I finished painting the 1st agers (and Boromir the fatally wounded).

Here they are:

First, the group shot:

Then, Thingol and Melian:

Turin (in his rogue attire):
Image
And finally, Faenor and Boromir - short lived heroes unite!
Image

Other than Faenor's slightly enlarged hand, which is of course swollen because of the Silmaril's carcinogenic properties and not my lack of sculpting skills, I'm happy with the lot.

Thanks for reading, I'll post more pics soon!

Yes Yes other than the swollen hand, these look great. :D :yay: I like the painting schemes you have used for each of them.

I like the idea of the first age heroes. I am really looking forward to what you come up with next. Good job.

Well done, this is a great idea.

I really like the colour scheme but personally I would have given melian a green robe (just a personal preference to make her look difrent from galadriel)
You are a very fast painter btw (this elf batch (including the plastics) is more than I paint in an entire year )

At long last, I've finished the next unit of elves - unfortunately, I'll have to shift gears now, as the remainder of my Galahadrim models arrived (From a trade) without heads. No idea how to find more!

Anyway, here are 10 archers with Gil-Galad and Haldir - Once I get them based, I'll post a group shot of all the elves so far:

Hope you enjoy them!

they look great wonkobaggins, i especially like how you used white for the spear, never would have thought if that yet it surprisingly distinguishes the figure nicely

They look great( as usual) :yay:

You said the elves arrived without heads?
Perhaps you might want to take a look at these heads
They are swan knight helmets, and have a small swan on top of the helmet.
If im correct there was a house of the swan in Gondolin so, they fit the theme perfectly. 8)

Wow, great call! Those will fit the bill nicely. I was stumped trying to find actually LOTR bits, so alternatives it is.

I'm glad you liked Gil-Galad - I tried painting his armor mithril colored first, but decided he probably would have dressed in the same kit as the boys, so I redid it in gold. The spear, as you said, was painted white to make him stick out - The other way would have been to mount him on a big rock, but I don't like the look of that with the elves.

I finished up some of the catch up work (basing and movement trays) for the Elves of Beleriand. Here is the host of Thingol as it stands now (ignore the predators in the background!):

And here is my next WIP - Gandalf the White:

I'm not sure he could take the predators, but he is a servant of the secret fire, so who knows?

Thanks for looking, C&C are welcome of course!

Those look great.

PS, given your excellent First Age models, would you be intrested in a copy of the 'Fall of Gondolin' PDF. it's a fan made sourcebook that was concieved and created by One Ring members a few years back. IT has great First Age ideas and paint schemes in it. Unfortunately it can't be downloaded from this site anymore for some reason, so PM me if your intrested and I can send you it via email.

It's funny you mention the "Fall of Gondolin" supplement. After seeing it here, I went on an internet quest to find it, and succeeded in turning it up.

What a great piece of work! I'm always amazed at the products people are willing to turn out for no other reason than the joy of creation.

I've also got an update today - 6 more Galahadrim knights and the completed pics of Gandalf.

Here are the entire 6 companies of knights:
Image

And here is Gandalf (or is it Goodgulf?) the white:
Image

I've been eyeballing the Fellowship of the Ring lately, so I'm going to shift gears for a bit and paint the 9 of them. The Mines of Moria Fellowship came in the collection I bought, and I can't resist painting the Sam-with-pan model.

Hopefully by the time they're finished, the heads from ebob miniatures will be in, and I'll be able to finish the other 20 Galahadrim.

Thanks for the compliments,

Here are the WIP shots of the Fellowship. 7 Down, 2 hobbits to go (forgive the Frodo and Sam pic, it's a little blurry):

Merry and Pippin are next, as well as Bill the pony (when he arrives) and then a properly trussed up base. C&C are welcome as always.

Stay tuned!

They look good! :yay: My only criticism is that the highlights on gandalfs, aragorns and legolas cloth are a bit too stark, but other than that its good.

I really like your fellowship. All painted cleanly with nice highlights and shading on the clothing. Well done! 8)
