I wonder if GDT will use the designs of the stone trolls in FotR or re-do them?

I get the feeling that they will be different. Shouldn't really be a big issue though, considering both the Warg/Wolf points alreasy made and that there's already established Troll variation within the Trilogy.

I agree. They probably will not look just like the stone trolls in the forest scene. I just hope they don't look too different, which would mess with continuity, and especially that they don't look anything like the mountain troll in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (a terrible design, IMO).

I find it amusing that GW has shifted their own Warhammer troll designs to look like the illegitimate children of their Stone trolls (which have been the default ones for years now) and the LOTR ones.

GW Stone Troll: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catal ... GameStyle=

LOTR Troll: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catal ... GameStyle=

NEW GW Troll: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catal ... GameStyle=

The painting obviously helps, but the head/face design is very influenced by LotR. Got to keep it somewhat consistant for all the younger players whose first exposure to Fantasy trolls is via PJs Films.

I am very tempted to get the new WFB plastic River Troll kit and use them in LotR, though.. I'd use the other new GW ones in LotR as well, if I had them. I think the variation allows a good amount of flexibility, and I'm always happy to include a good model, regardless of whether it fits in with the "official GW sanctioned" force or not...
