So that model that's been floating about unidentified for a while now IS Faramir? WTF? First, we HAVE a mounted Faramir as he appeared in the movie. Secondly, that one doesn't look a DAMN thing like Faramir. Why? I just don't get it.

Hey, GW! Wanna make a single mounted Hero blister? How about Elfhelm?!

NOOO!!! they must be joking with that mounted faramir!!!
The rest is OK except the ringwraith again but I don't like any of the named ringwraiths.

But I have to say the ruins looks great, also i'm very interrested in the battlehost book I whant to know whats in there.

Is it just me, or has Faramir gained weight?

While the Dol Amroth and Morgul knights are a welcome addition to the range, and the ruins no doubt useful, the rest is a little disappointing. It has been a long time since a release for LotR, and even longer since one I have been interested in, so I was hoping for a little more. Well, I guess that means I get to keep my money a little longer...

I'm impressed with a lot of the new stuff it's filled some gaps in the existing armies : uruk scout banner and drummer, rangers banner and hornblower, not to mention the amazing new ruins, it's been years since we've had new terrain and by the looks of things it was worth the wait.

Not bad.

Battlehosts--don't play and never will, so indifferent.

SKoDA--Pretty sweet. I'd like to get my hands on a few.

Morgul Knights---also quite awesome.

Ruins of Osgiliath--now this looks pretty good. May get some for a planned diorama.

The Dwimmerlaik--at least he isn't wearing a turban.....

Blackroot Vale Archers Command--I'd like the two miniatures to swap heads. Or give the hornblower a veil.

Faramir--*coughs* I hate it. I hate it I hate it I hate it. I wish I could blow it up with a B@ZOOKA! Alan, that's simply not fair...B-A-Z-O-O-K-A! BAAAZZZOOOOKKAAA! Yes! I wish I could blow it up with that. Someone has been in site programming again.....good one

Mauhur's Marauders Command--banner bearer is pretty sweet. Drummer dude is...meh.

Duinhir--a lackluster pose and IMO poor face sculpt let this down.

Mauhur--I hate him almost as much as the new Faramir.

Also, for ease of viewing....

Once again, the LotR range has been left with the worst paint jobs GW can do. Other than that - I love the 3 plastic sets. The Uruks are also excellent, and Faramir would look much better with a decent paint job. Duinhir is ok, his command arent great IMO, but once again, the paint jobs ruin them.

Any chance anyone could host the pictures somewhere other than GW or flickr? Work blocks them.

Cheers!

Well,... The SKoDA look ok, but the only one I actually like is the Morgul Knights. I don't expect I'll be getting much from this new addition of minis.

Well, that was a large and reassuring amount of "meh" ;)

The ruins I am getting. No ifs, buts or maybes about it. Those guys can be painted up as ruins of Arnor or bits of Southern Gondor or even things lying around in what was once the northern Province of Gondor.

The Nazgul is vaguely interesting. The rest? Saves me money :D

Love the terrain, much better than the other ruins. The walls on this look appropriately thick. I'll probably buy a few sets.

I don't have any fiefdoms armies yet, but this will probably get me to pick up Imrahil and some mounted knights. I'm just hoping they'll come out with plastic men-at-arms soon...

Duinhir looks terrible, but might be a good addition to a fiefdoms army.

I already have morgul knights, so while I think these look better, probably won't bother.

Mauhur looks weird, too thick. I'm guessing his special rule is extra movement. Nice to have another Isengard hero.

I actually don't mind Faramir, he looks more like I would have expected from the books.

Wow, some actually decent stuff there.

The Swan Knights I'll be getting a couple boxes of for sure.

The Morgul Knights I may experiment with a box or two.

The Ruins are amazing looking. Provided they don't come out to be like $60, I'll get some.

Mauhur's command is pretty decent, just a couple gripes: Does EVERY command need to come with a severed head attached somewhere?! Secondly, WHY would swift Scouts lug around banners and drums?!

Mauhur himself is meh. The topknot doesn't do it for me. They had movie images to base him off of and it doesn't look like they did. Just like....

FARAMIR! The epic fail of this release. WHO exactly is that supposed to be?! WHEN did Faramir dress like that?! WHAT is wrong with the current mounted model?! Oh man, at least it will make a decent proxy for a Dol Amroth character I guess. Call him Adrahil and use Isildur's stats or something...

The Vale Archer command looks alright. It appears that using Ranger models is now the "canonical" way to go. The Hornblower looks like he could also creep his way into a Grey Company.

Duinhir is a little lackluster. Dare I speculate about his facial expression and stooping gesture...

Overall, I might get most of this stuff. I just won't use it for what it's intended to be used for...

faramir might have eaten a few more pies since his last model came out...

btw
what is it with gw and models with their eyes closed? *cough* DUINHIR
his hand is pretty messed up too, and the gem on his sword looks like it came off a fantasy high elf.

and it might just be a bad photo, but faramirs right eye is WEIRD when compared to his other eye.

minus his silly hair, i quite like mauhur. he looks soooooo crazy

the command sets look decent enough

just noticed the strange shrub on faramirs base...

I like most of them except for faramir, mauhur and the maraud drummer. Are there going to be SBG profiles or are these minis only for WoTR??

Wow! :D

Thanks so much for sharing the pictures everyone. I love the Morgul and Swan Knights, they're absolutely amazing. The Osgilliath terrain is also spectacular, and even though I enjoy building my own terrain, I may just have to buy this. It looks fantastic, and any spare pieces could easily be used on the bases of my Gondor minis. I really like the Command sets for the Marauder's and the Black Root Vale Archer's, but I'm not quite as fond of their leader's. The Scout Command looks great though. I also like the new Faramir (Turns out that old sneak-peak was him after all). I also love the Dwimmerlaik, he actually looks like a Ringwraith! :-D

The best thing I've seen though, is the contents of the plastic kits. Just look at the number of different options on them! 40 and 39 for the Morgul and Swan Knights respectively, which seems to be a lot for LotR.

This release looks great! 8)

Hmmm...
Well, I like Faramir, but wouldn't use him as such...he makes a nice Anárion, Húrin the Tall, or some other Gondorian lord/captain.

Mauhúr and his Marauder Command are really cool and I'll probably make Mordor Uruks out of them.

As for Duinhir and Blackroot Vale boys...not bad, but looks like GW got pretty lazy as they look an awful lot like the new Grey Company models.

The Ruins of Osgiliath I love and will definitely be getting that set!

I like both sets of the plastic knights, and I might be getting the Morgul Knights for my Mordor army.

Don't really care about the new named wraiths that GW made up so there is no chance of him being added to my army...in my mind the only named wraiths that will be in my army will be the Witch-king and Khamúl.

All in all not a bad lot coming out! :)

I'm assuming that this Faramir represents him Post WotR where he's the Steward of Ithilien.

Ok everyone, as this thread has really morphed into a general discussion of the May release, so I've edited the title and first page to reflect that. The first page has pictures all of the models as well as links to their pages on GW's website. I've also included a link to GW's What's New Today blog post on the release. If any articles are published on GW's website pretaining to this release, I'll edit the first page and include links to them.

Here's a link to the first page incase you want to see the edit:

http://www.one-ring.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=17600

Hope this helpful guys! :)
