Here is my pelennor fields Theoden wip:

Image

I've tried to paint the armour in the style of the film and after about four attempts I'm reasonably satisfied that with some more work he will be an excellent centrepiece for the army.

I've also nearly finished some more helmingas:

Theoden looks great, except for the white dots on his sword. I'm looking forwards to seeing more.

Great looking Rohirrim: a little variation in colour palette here and there is perfectly ok with me. Well done!

Its always good to see more Rohan. Good job so far. The blue threw me at first, but it kinda works. Looking forward to see more.

Nice colour schemes (I'm not sure about the blue armour but I like the blue cloth). And Theoden looks really good so far! :yay:

A long overdue update...

Not much painting happened since my last posts but in the past month I've been in the mood and added a few more figures to my army. Theoden is now completed:

Image

I've also done some more archers and my helimingas (well almost, a few still need shields):

Image

All that's left are 18 cavalry (coming soon!) and a couple of characters (Eomer and Grimbold).

Aside from my rohan stuff I've worked on a special project. Next year I'll be getting married and my excellent wife-to-be came up with the idea of having a couple of lotr figures on top of the wedding cake. The obvious choice were Faramir and Eowyn and here they are:

Since it was her idea I can forgive her choice in colour scheme which proved to be a lot of hassle in getting right.

Looks very nice painted especially the faramir but maybe remove the sword because it's for a wedding cake? :P

There's a first time for everything I guess. Not that she complains (much) since I give her half decently painted lotr figures instead.

That is really nice!

Great job on Eomer and Theoden.

Grats with your wedding :)

I just love the Gandalf miniature.
Is there actual fireworks in his cart?

The camera on my phone isn't very good at focusing on close objects so I used the vignette android app. It also hides the messy state of my desk.

And yes I believe there are fireworks in the cart. Or at least that's what I like to think the various items are.

No. I think I might leave them as is. I could do some further work particularly on the black areas and faramir's face but I've had to repaint those parts a few times as I was unhappy with the results.

Having done no painting in over six months I've been quite productive of late. I might even get my cavalry done before the new year:
