The message tends to crop up when the site is the busiest, and that's usually around 8:00pm UK time - early to mid afternoon US time. So if you come on later in the day, you'll probably hardly ever see the error message.

I did some investigating and discovered the real reason why we get that message - I'd always assumed that it was because of other websites using up the resources, but it's because of a fairly low limit on the number of database queries we can make per hour - and we have a really good chance of hitting it even when the site is only moderately busy.

So (in theory) by spreading the number of queries over a few users we have reduced the chance of hitting the limit significantly.

I've been getting a connection reset error on my one computer in my house, doesn't seem to matter what time it is. However, it is the only computer that uses firefox...and it seems to only be while trying to get to the forums. No idea what's going on

Have you tried using a different browser from that computer and seeing if the message still appears?

'Connection reset' sounds more like a connectivity problem with your internet than with the site itself, but if you're not getting it for other sites I'm at a loss to explain it.

As a follow-up to my last post in here, I've spread the database query load over quite a few connections now and we seem to have finally resolved that issue. Yay.

I have noticed that when there's a horizontal bar on the screen from too big pictures that the header at the top is white for the extra inch or two. Not much of a problem as if you scroll down you can't see it anyways, I just thought I'd mention it.

Is this a prank, are we getting extra time, did they already finish, or is this an error?:

I hope it's the latter

I guessed that. But shouldn't it say "Ongoing" or "In progress" or something? It just looks weird. That's what I was saying.

Anyways, another error found. Not a biggie, but if I've just posted and the "Message Posted" screen comes up, if I attempt to access a member's profile from the links on that page, it won't work. The link that comes up is http://www.one-ring.co.uk/phpBB2/profile.?mode=viewprofile&u=2842 (using mine as the example), lacking the necessary 'php' between 'profile.' and the '?'

I also get this irritating Error 404 message:
Page not found
The page you are looking for might have been removed,
had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please try the following:
If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.

- Click the Back button in your browser to try another link.
- Use a search engine like Google to look for information on the Internet.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HTTP 404 - File not found
That's an odd one. I'll look into it, thanks

I'm not quite sure if this is an error really, it may be a remanant from our run in with the hacker, but I thought I'd share it anyways.

When I'm editing my article in the article submissions page, there is a white bar at the top of the screen that says, "in here". It doesn't appear to be a link or anything of that nature, but I still found it slightly strange and thought I'd post it here. It also only seems to appear when I'm editing the article, it is not visible on any other part of the site as far as I can tell.

Edit: It also apears on the page that says you have edited your article succesfully.

Nah, that's me trying to fix a problem with the article library code.

It's a little bit of debugging code I slip in so I know which part of the code is being executed. You may see some more bits like that over the next few days as I work through the problem.

I have a problem.

When I try to delete my two articles that I have started and that I have realized that I'll never finish anyway, it just says like this when I click the delete button:

General Error
The requested module does not exist or you are not an authorized user.

DEBUG MODE

Line : 49
File : pagestart.php

Should it be like this?

Yep Olle, that's one of the really sloppy bits of coding that I never got around to fixing.

The article library is overdue for a revamp. I just need to find some time and energy and I'll get it all sorted.

Alan, from certain pages, i cannot click on members names (to go to their profile) via the link underneath the chatbox on the left. Just get blank white screen with an 'unavailable' text box at the top of the page.

Pages you can't go to member's profiles to from include "post submitted page" and the "home" page.

I have now found another error. (Does the forum hate me? )
For some reason, quite a few threads refuse to load fully, and end as this picture ends.
Image
It also will not allow me to scroll beyond this "Thread Embargo".

Am I the only person getting this, or are others? It may just be a result of my opening dozens of OR tabs simultaneously.
