Cheers for looking and voting everyone.

I try to create a smooth gold all the time, and I think I did a reasonable job this time, but its hard to do with GW's gold. If you look in the pot, there seems to be much less metallic flakes than there is in other paints, eg Mithril Silver. I've ordered some VMC metal medium to increase its smoothness

Oh god yes, GW gold is a bloody pain to use. There are considerably less metallic bits than in the silvers, and combined with the relative thickness of the paint it makes it really hard to thin, mix or do anything with. Do you have your metal medium yet, and if so does it do its job?

Awesome stuff by the way, big fan of your work.

Yep, got the metal medium. To be honest its nothing special... its very white so you have to mix brown in to darken the mix down after you add it, which pretty much cancels the effect of adding the flakes in the first place. If you add it to a darken colour like dwarf bronze, it would probably look better, but I unfortunately don't have that colour to test it out.

Which brings me on to another two things I bought - glaze medium and fluorescent green paint (yes, fluorescent). The glaze medium does its job better, it retards drying time so its good for wet-blending and gives a smoother blend when glazing. But it also suffers from 'white-tint' syndrome and lightens all your colours whether you want it or not.

The fluorescent green was my best investment (Lol, investment - it cost 1.35) as it looks amazing when glazed over a white base on plasma gun coils. I am currentlt testing it out on one of my marines and it looks class. Its lovely and bright so it stands out and makes it look 'alive'.

Brilliant, Patrick! :yay:

There is only one thing that I don't like so much - the bases. I find them a little bit boring... or are they WIP?

They are, but its lunarscape, so there wouldn't be much else. I might add some bricks or tyranid heads later on. :)

Cheers!
