These revisions of parts of Smaug remind me of climbing mountains: the peak seems to be just over the next rise, no, the one after that, err, no the next one.... Ranulph Fiennes managed Everest this week on the 3rd attempt and he described his technique as 'plodding endlessly'. So, a little step at a time (and with the occasional sidestep), Smaug forms before our eyeses....
I hope I will not be 65 when this dragon is finished!

I think it was essentially in the 'armpit' area that ye olde wyrm ycleypt Smaug had his weakness (well that and an addiction to bling....).
Oh yes: A hey nonny-nonny! (end of silly Bard impression to keep Natarn happy)

Smaug looks magnificent Natarn. The scales are possibly the best I've ever seen! Keep up the great work man :-D

Thanks for the comments, everyone.

Here's a bit more on the neck, leaving gaps for where the spines will be.

I finally figured out the secret of the pose Natarn has adopted for Olde Smokey: just imagine Bilbo has said, 'Now, give me a claw. That's a good dragon. Have a biscuit...'

He is lifting a claw, ready to crush a Dorth...

I mean a Dwarf.

I think I may have to adjust the angle of the foreleg. It looks like it's broken at the elbow.

And yes, I think you should adjust the angle of the leg.

From what I can see, the leg does look as if it needs adjusting, but the dragon overall looks brilliant; I absolutely love the head! :yay:

I'm glad that you like the head but...

that's going to be changed and improved.

I've just cut through the milliput and changed the angle of the leg so that it doesn't turn out from the body but runs in-line with the upper arm. It looks much better now. :D

It already looks great so it'll be interesting to see how you improve it! 8)
