A sprue ruin (call me crazy)

hey everyone! i haven't posted here often the last time (school... painting fantasy because no one at my club plays lotr...) but here I am again, and I have something I want to show you: a ruined building made out of sprue! I was inspired by an article on this site some time ago (by Quendi if i'm correct), and made myself a little sprue wall. It took quite long

Now I made this:

I know i'm crazy! You wouldn't believe how many sprues went into this (I lost my count). And cutting them.. it takes soooo long

. Cut myself twice in the same spot as well ^^.

The basic shape was build very simple with thick cardboard. The planks are made of balsa. I'm now adding some more rubble and then it's on to painting and basing to them. If you have any questions Ill be happy to ask them.

Hi Valdor, that article was indeed written by Quendi ! (Sprue Ruins).

Quendi was actually from the same place as me, Newcastle (Steve is his real name), I met up with him a couple of times when I first got into this hobby and he created some really good stuff. But, unfortunately, Steve has long been M.I.H (Missing In Hobby).

Sprue is a weird thing, but I think you have taken onboard his concept so very well and created a brilliant piece of scenery !

I would really like to see an updated image of your creation fully painted. Love it...nice job !!!

Wow nice work, using sprues is an eco friendly choice so well done for that, the brick effect is a unique approach, a couple of these would help each fit into place. Are you planning on making more?

i was thinking of making something larger (as in a small building, not just a tower)

This is a really nice piece of work!
I don't think I kept enough of my sprues to attempt one of these, I really like the wall.

I know it would be hard to do but if there was anything I would change it would be a variation in the brick pattern. I will try this and let you know how it goes. As a Fantasy building I think this looks ace!

The bricks vary in sizes, but I think it doesn't really show

Anyway, it's good that you mention it, and I will certainly try it on my next piece (yes, i'm gonna do it again >.<)
I'll try and post WIPs so you can see how i did it.

Just kidding, of course. That is a really good idea. I keep a few sprues lying around for conversions and the like, but I've never kept enough to try something of this magnitude. Perhaps I'll start squirreling away a few more of them.
