Sorry for the late reply. Personally I would like to limit it to Sauron and the Necromancer for this challenge to keep it as a Sauron challenge. Allowing Ringwraiths could change the challenge from being a Sauron challenge as the majority of people I assume would choose to paint one of those instead. Opening up the challenge to Wraiths also means the challenge should really be open to Castellans and Black Numenoreans (as they are very similar in look). However, in the future a 'Spirit' themed challenge will be put up as an option for one of our quarterly special theme challenges. I hope this is ok with everyone? It's just one of the things we are aiming for with the character challenges is to have similar models competing so they can easily be compared with each other (the quarterly themed challenges being an exception) and although they are similar colour schemes, Sauron/The Necromancer is better off on his own.

If there is uproar about this and people REALLY want a Ringwraith to be acceptable I might let it slide, but I'd rather not if you understand where I'm going?

Also, as there have been lots of challenges now, I might start putting in options for minis that were used for the original challenges a couple of years ago, in which case we might see a Ringwraith specific challenge in a few months anyway.

If people do want Nazgul, you should limit it to just Nazgul on Fell Beasts.

This just makes me want to strip my sauron to repaint him, which of course I don't have time for since I am trying to finish 15 RoR, a dragon, start 5 more RoR, finish some mordor uruks, paint my Dystopian wars, prime some more WoMT, Finish the rest of my dwarf rangers/warriors, start the foolish numbers of high elves/galadrim i have, start burhdur/ents lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala "head spinning" :?

But I know I am singing to the choir here. You are all just a bad bad influence

Alas, I don't have 50+ euro's to spend on a model I don't need, so I'll miss out on this :-X .

I might go into a last-minute painting frenzy for Gimli tough.

I've been building my plan for this contest. When I submit the proof you'll have to let me know if it is approved or not.

I have an entry that is still Sauron, just very non-traditional. I think he will pass muster though.

Annatar, Lord of Gifts? Mairon, Maia of Aule? Werewolf form? Lidless Eye? Really quite curious about this.

Oh, I will.

...if I can get it finished. I've got a Necromancer good to go.

I'm glad my comment caused all of you to reveal that you actually would be painting Sauron, I was getting worried that we wouldn't have a great gallery of finished products to look forward to at the end of the month! At the end of the day, I think Sauron was a better choice; I have painted my Hasharin in realistic Middle Eastern colors, and while it looks decent, my paint job, and the model itself, didn't, in the end, seem "majestic" enough for a painting challenge. Plus, it wouldn't photograph well at all :)

You know, it's a shame that no-one does an (licenced or unlicenced) Lich King model.
