Sure thing Gothmog but I doubt it will be Durburz anyway. Feel free to post it in your WIP thread whenever though!

Sauron is rising! I might still change my vote from Hasharin to him! We have the presidential elections going on here so I'm in a very wild voting mood. :-)

I changed my mind and picked Sauron. Maybe if he wins, it'll help make my decision to finally buy him.
He was in my local hobby store but now someone else bought him. Will have to resort to eBay.

The Great eye commands all of you that haven't voted for Sauron to vote for him now .... Imagine a painting competition with 20 variations of the dark lord himself

I will probably still enter if the Hasharin or Sauron wins. I like the latest pose of Hasharin so it would be a good excuse to buy it and I painted a Sauron years ago so it would be nice to buy another one and see how different my take on him now would be.

If the Hasharin wins and some people aren't a fan of the GW model, I have posted a decent substitute model from Darksword miniatures that would work well, in the topic 'Suitable hasharin substitute/proxy' viewtopic.php?f=30&t=21783. Also I found this one from the same company:

They are both from the 'Visions in Fantasy' line, which is 28mm, and there are quite a number of fantastic-looking miniatures.

(End Spam post) :-D

Dang, Sauron and Hasharin are tied! Hasharin had such a strong lead, I didn't think he would be caught!

That's a beautiful figure. And it makes me vote for Sauron!
I wouldn't be able to get hold of Darksword figures in time for the next paint challenge. I'll happily go for Hasharin in the future, though...
Anyone know how well the DS figures scale to GW's LOTR line?

Go team Hasharin!

Also, as an idea for a future painting challenge, how about a model or scene from The Hobbit? Obviously existing models like Bilbo, Gollum, Moria Goblins, Wood Elves, Cave Trolls, Giant Spiders, and Dragons would all work, but there could be good scope for creative conversions of LOTR models too.

DS figures scale quite well with regards to height, but LotR figures are a bit bulkier and have bigger heads:

I hope this comparison shot is visible to others, Google has just changed something about how Picasaweb works and now wants to do some Google+ stuff with the pictures instead. Sigh.
