Hello all!

This is my first competition, and first time participating on The One Ring!

I had a look through my collection and found an armoured Haldir that needed some TLC, so I figured this competition would be as good a time as any to give him the kind of paint work such a nice model deserves.

Good luck to all!

Welcome to the site and to the challenge! That's a great model to paint, have fun with it!

@Gene, it's metal. I bought the brothers when Ruin of Arnor came out and they have been waiting for a coat of paint since.

Hi Ellorindar,
I just painted this miniature last month, I wish I hadn't done it until this month now that this challenge started. I put photos up on this thread anyway if you want to have a look, just go back to page 1 of these posts.
It was fun to paint, the gold patterns on the bow and sword were a bit challenging, but I really enjoyed it. Ill be interested in seeing yours too :)
Good luck, Josh

I'm back. And I'm attempting galadriel. The skin and face are getting there, though I'll probably fool around with them for a while yet. (the eyes especially). The cloak is just basecoated and darkened down in the recesses. The hair is also only basecoated.

Hello to all!

I present below my armoured Haldir. The golden armour of the Galadhrim is such a joy to paint =]

Edit: I am a fool who does not read rules. Changed picture to have just four images rather than... six :P

See, I wouldn't ever normally use a gloss varnish, but in this instance I think it was required in order to give the armour the correct 'sheen'. After looking through stills of the Two Towers I noted that the Galadhrim have particularly shiny armour.

I think the inspiration for an elven army has been kindled! Have you a theme for your own?

Maybe in 2 years time when I get around to painting them! Just finished a dozen orcs this weekend & now starting Glorfindel for this competition.

This may or may not be the finished piece. (Minus the base, which is obviously not finished) I will get better pictures up yet, these are too dark.

Here is a bit more progress. The horses are now finished.

I still don't know which one I will enter. Or if I can finish any of them in time...

That's a really good-looking Galadriel! :yay:

Great work everyone!

@theavenger001 - Galadriel looks great, love the skin tone. With that colour scheme she'd actually make a really great mellisandre from ASOIAF!

Pasi, thanks! I really like your painting style, so that's high praise indeed.
Dr Grant, thanks as well. I've never seen ASoIaF, but I googled her, and yep, she would work well! :)

Here's some more pictures, some of them with flash to better show the highlighting. I would still like to get some well lit ones without flash though... :-X
