Here is my Homemade Buhrdur.

He has no paint on him. He is just made of different types of putty.

This is intressting.. I'm planning on an Arnor/Numenor army in the future so painting my Buhrdur might be a good start! I don't know if I might be finished on time, I'm very busy with school ATM but I'll search some time to paint (:
I'll upload a picture tomorrow and I'll start painting this weekend I think. Hopefully I'll get finished on time :P

I just noticed everyone's Buhrdurs have the webpage in the background. Do I need a pic like that as well to prove the mini is mine?

The picture you provided is fine. The proof pictures are more proof that the miniature was unpainted before you started the challenge than proof it's yours. I trust the community enough that noone is cheating on something as silly as this. Though if you want to include it for completeness, that's fine :)

Interesting you've started on the fur first. I'm beginning with the flesh.

My Buhrdûr assembled and primed:

Image

And after some work on the base, skin and the warg skin on his back (last weekend):

Image

I had a nice colour with quite good layering for the lighter parts of his skin and then decided to give the whole skin a wash and ended up darkening the skin too much. Shouldn't ever touch something that is pleasing to the eye, no matter what I have planned to do.

Well, back to painting, with any luck I'll have some new progress in a few hours.

Has anybody else had troubles with their Buhrdur cast being absolutely atrocious?! Forget about mold lines, it looks like the molds on my cast were out by a few millimetres! I'm gonna have to send this one back, has anyone had experience with returning minis to GW?

My troll had a huge gap, maybe 2-3 mm on the backside between the lower and upper torso parts. No amount of filing helped, I just had to use loads of green stuff and sculpt the lower back instead of normal gap filling. The pieces fitted a lot worse than the normal cave troll pieces.

I've never returned anything to GW because I order the stuff from UK and that would take ages to sort out.

I'm talking about where the molds join being out, i.e. instead of the usual tolerable mold lines I've got an imperfection of a few mm which would take considerable filing to make even, if that makes sense. Most parts are dodgy the only decent piece is the head.

Apparently GW has really good customer service. I would recommend ringing them up and telling them about the problem and they should send you a new one. That way you get 2 (well 1 and a sh*t one).
If it doesnt work send it then.

@Pinky: Nothing that bad, though I think my Buhrdûr is way below GW's normal standard for multi-part metals. The mould lines of individual parts were OK in my troll.

Edit: here's my today's progress on Buhrdûr:

Still some work to do, but the larger parts start to find their colours.
