The answer to my question might be extremely obvious but I just can't seem to figure how to quote someone's text (I'm talking about the yellowish box thingy).

Just press the quote button in the upper right of the textbox of the person that you wanna quote, it should take you straight to the reply editor :) then you can shorten what you quote!

Haha, what I actually meant was shorten it so that only the relevant sentence appears in the quote box, as i did here ;)

You can also do it manually by using the [quote="Username"] [/quote] tags. Just put the quoted text in between the two tags, like this...
