If the fellowship sustains a casualty do they then have to shake less die if so how is it worked out ?2 per hero? Also if they are called out in a duel how do you decide who is removed ? |

If the Fellowship takes a casualty they will roll ONE less attack (even if the Hobbits are that ONE casualty). You can choose which is removed (the 4 Hobbits count as one model). It clearly says in the Fellowship's Special Rules that they CANNOT take part in Heroic Duels. |

I have seen them played, very strong and very menoverable, although 500 points, so you can only play them in 2000 point games, also they can't be the last unit standing as they are not epic heroes but rather a Legendary formation. My ex boyfriend played the fellowship once and that was his only unit remaining, we had great joy telling him that he had lost when I killed his last epic hero in another formation. Lol However a great firmation to play and take some killing with Gandalfs magic replenishing lost pieces. |

Where's the rule that says you lose when your last epic dies? |

Lol not sure, that's just what we've always played, once you army is leaderless you have lost. |

I´m pretty sure that´s not official, though it is quite a nice houserule. |

I'm sure that's how we have always played, with no epic or captains left, you ate now leaderless and have lost. |

But Legendary formations count as leaders. If all of your epics and legendaries get killed off, then sure you lose, but if you have any legendaries left you shouldn't, especially if it's the Fellowship. |

He is right, great houserule but after all armies can survive without a leader |

We played last night a 1500 point game, and thought I'd let Doc Death try out the Fellowship. I played a Misty Mountain army against him including in it my Dragon and Stone giant. I think the fellowship is a superb formation. For instance, my dragon went swooping around the battlefield killing everything, minis tirith formation after formation, however with just the fellowship left I had the Dragon with only 2 wound markers, my stone giant, 6 companies of Blackshields with Durburz still in it, 3 companies of Prowlers, and 2 companies of Spiders left to attack and kill the small little formation of the fellowship. So what happened? I charged my dragon in, even getting an unstoppable charge - the result? I got 9 hits, however with the resilience 3 of the fellowship, that's only 3 hits, off comes the Hobbits Boromir and Legolas. Not bad I thought, however he struck back and with the help of there ample might killed my dragon. Damn I thought, and then to make matters worse, Gandalf went on to call blessing of valar and rolled a 5!!! Yeah that's right pop the Hobbits Boromir and Legolas back in. He then went on to win the battle, so that shows how powerful the Fellowship is. |

Ouch. You have my sympathies- the Nine are similarly annoying, though without the Blessings of the Valar they stay dead when they die. |

The problem with using the Fellowship is that it means no Aragorn, Gimli, Gandalf etc Epic Heroes. |

Plenty of other heroes to go with, the unit is just Über strong |

Yeah but Aragron, Gimli, Boromir and Gandalf are some of the best. |

Yes indeed, though my personally favorite combination is Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli in a formation of either FKoDA or Khazad Guard- pick your enemy foot formation, Gimil calls epic rage and epic rampage, and remove virtually, if not in actuality, the whole formation before they can even touch you. 'Tis a most satisfying experience. But not to get too off topic- yes, the Fellowship is deadly, just like the White Council is somewhat deadly- or rather, how the five wizards are deadly. You HAVE to wound them lots to even make progress, and you almost always have to kill them all in one fell swoop to keep them dead, otherwise they just spring up out of holes in the ground, not like dwarves, but worse- like daisies. |
