and then you mean best cavalry forces or best archery forces?!

Best Cavalry: Gondor (Knights of Minas Tirith) and Rohan (Royal Knights, NOT the Riders, unless you want to have a very difficult army)

Best Archers: Fallen Realms (Haradrim+Arbalesters), anyone with 20pt bow units, Wood Elves (if the enemy gets close, you're dead).

For 5 pts more you get an extra pt of Def, Courage and lances in the Guards. It's not that they're weak, just that the Guards are better for their price.

What you sugest for a good army of rohan?

My idea so far is:

So, 20 spearman(with option - throwing spear), + 20 sword and shield
Eowyn Mounted on horse
Gamling mounted on horse with banner
and im thinking about adding
(6) Royal guard foot

But im new with this, so i accept some suggestions/help 8)

No, this is talking about WotR, not SBG. That list goes with SBG, not WotR.

I was thinking on using

Theodred
8 Warriors of rohan

Eomer
8 warriors of rohan + throwing spear

Gamling + Banner
8 warriors of rohan

How many heros can i use? Like i said in new in this

Haha your still SBG Chris , WOTR is very different. The last game I had 162 WoMt( that's individual men) and and 4 heros plus bowmen , cav and bolt throwers. Maybe your local GW could give you a few practice games that's how I started . Now it's Nearly a year later I'm still not very good and I've spent all my money on figures and paint, but it's a great game :D

Welcome back! The game is fantastic, I am just starting to paint my Rohan army, there is a thread on this site which covers rohan in more detail and which heros to take etc, also look in the battle host book as there are some good examples in there too!
Good luck :-)

They are weak. The bows are useless, they have to low a defence, and without lances they can't dish out the pain properly either. Add to that the fact that they are cavalry (ie. Squishy with a capital S), and they are quite worthless. KOMT are far better for 5 points less.

It's the weirdest thing.... WOTR doesn't get it's new book afterall (or part of a book) and is allegedly shifting to a Specialist game but at the same time more locals than I have ever seen are starting it and I see the same on the net! :)

mastermanje, in general Gondor will be the more efficient choice for you due to the cost/rules of the base troops but Rohan has it's good points and, with the right allies, you can do some cool things with those big rider blocks. If you want to base it on troops - then I'd suggest Gondor but if you are happy to combine a few heroes, Rohan could work well.

Cheers and good luck.
