Maybe it's just me but I feel the contrast could be slightly bigger.
Maybe have the headers a little bit darker?

Looks cool anyway :-D

Not just you, its the first thing I noticed, the wording does need to be darker or bigger.

I think in general that the scroll background colour could be faded a little more, to make it easier to read topic lists.

Thanks for the suggestion LK. Yep, I agree, the forum headers could be darker - I'm on it.

I'll tweak things a bit with the parchment background too - the bits inside the box especially, since that's where 90% of the important content sits. Good feedback folks.

I've changed the colour saturation on the parchment image to dull down the tone a little. I think it adds a nice mellow feel to the page, what do you think? It has improved the contrast nicely (IMO). Plus, I'll use this as the background for any scenario maps we produce for articles.

But I'll also darken the text colour a bit to make that even more noticeable. (EDIT: done!)

You might need to refresh the page by holding down the Ctrl key and pressing F5.
