As you may all have noticed the One Ring has been becoming gradually more and more pink every day. For those of you who are still wondering what is going on it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month starting October of this year. Members of the One Ring have been turning themselves pink (and some being turned pink without their knowledge ) to show their support and raise awareness of this horrible disease. Lets take what started out as the very good and well planned practical joke of turning me pink and put it to some good use!! The boss man himself Dagorlad has managed to set up a system where members who would like to make a further contribution to the cause can use the "Donate" button located at the bottom of each page of the site to make a donation no matter how small through paypal... at the risk of sounding like an advert for Tesco "Every little helps". The total raised over the month of October will be passed by Dagorlad on behalf of the One Ring Community to the Pink Ribbon Charity. Lets see how much the greatest Lord of the Rings wargaming site in the world can achieve for this truly worthy cause. If you do not have access to paypal or would prefer to make a donation via another method to the cause this also is great and you can contact the Charity directly. It is a worldwide charity, a worldwide appeal for a worldwide problem. Come on guys we've been hurting our paypal accounts for long enough trying to keep up with our respective collections - make a donation, make a difference |

The donations are starting to roll in and the month hasn't even started yet. Thanks to everyone who has gotten behind this so far, you're fantastic! We're up to £43.92 at the moment. |

Thanks Pete. We're up to £59 already, how about we set our target as £500? That'd be something to aim for! |

After another donation, we reached £68.52. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far. The paperwork for making it an official charity fundraising event is in progress at the moment, and when it comes back to me I'll publish the licence number and contact details. Raising money for charity is not something we've done before so it's great to see people getting behind it. I must point out though, so far it's only the Ringwraiths who have donated. |

Good to see this is already bringing in money. I will donate, but to my local collection, as my family has had some very bad experiences with paypal. (had nothing to do with paypal itself, but it's not the best subject to bring up in my family.) |

I donate my time to a local charity and help them with running a store and with fundraising on a regular basis. All voluntary, I get no pay. In other words I'm excusing the fact I'm too poor to donate by saying I'm not a total scrooge. But well done so far! Keep it up guys. |

I just did something similar --> Septembeard.org to raise money for Prostate Cancer research. I will chip in on this one as well, but please no more pink... I am all for the cause, but it annoys me that my Chicago Bears, who have such a classic, respected uniform go pink for an entire month! One game, okay, but a whole month!!! **grumble, grumble** |

Fabulous stuff lads and lad-ettes, we've nearly cracked £100 already and are well on our way towards our target of £500. Pretty much everyone of us will be touched by cancer in some way during our lives and so by donating here, or to your own local charity, or by volunteering, we're helping to fight against this horrible disease. I would like to give a huge thank you to everyone who has gotten behind this campaign. |

I am hoping this can help us reach our goal!! As with many of you, I was pinked last week but not by choice. I have decided to use my powers and imagination to exact revenge (and perhaps to help a good cause along the way. Below you will see a picture of a Furby that I have sculpted and have molded. Now that I have set the scene here is my quest; DMS and his partner have turned us pink. This Terrain Challenge is DMS' first big venture as a Ringwraith. I think we should turn this into a Furby Wonderland Scenic Challenge. I am pledging my scenic skills and my vote to the person that creates the best Furby playground (the pinker, the fru-fruier the better). Moreover, if you donate 5 pounds or more to the chariety drive on this website, then I will send you a casting of the furby that I have sculpted. If you do 10 pounds I will hand paint it for you. There is no limit to how often I will do this . . . if you want 4 furbies donate 20 pounds. I will pay shipping and handling as well as all material costs (they will be cast in two part resin). Lets turn this thread and challenge into DMS' worst nightmare, exact some revenge, and help a good cause all at the same time. *If you have already donated please send me a PM and let me know and I will send your Furbies on their merry little way. Honor code will be respected. Wave 1 of revenge commence! |
