I just wondered if posting a comment about a miniature in someone's gallery that they did ages ago, is alright. I know if you post in a really old topic you get a spanking by a Ringwraith...or worse ...but is it the same for the galleries? Would people find it annoying? |

On the contrary, I think most people would be pleased. Commenting on a gallery shot is a world apart from resurrecting a dead thread. When you comment the gallery, you don't bump it back up to the top of the list so to speak. |

If you are being fair and complementary, probably not. Galleries are not like threads - you might first see a gallery when a new pic goes in and realises that there is other stuff in there that you find interesting. I do not find it a problem and cannot remember anyone else mentioning it. |

Yeah, that's what I thought, but I didn't want to annoy anyone. I wanted to make sure it wasn't one of the un-written rules! Thanks guys! |

How badly do the Ringwraiths frown upon this? Is it really a big deal if you bring up an old thread? And how old is considered an "old" thread? I just want to know so I don't accidentally bring up something and get punished by the Wraiths. |

Generally speaking, if it's on the first page of a section, it should be OK. Providing that that section sees a lot of traffic. Mostly, it's topics that have regular updates that are being posted in, sometimes, they may be a few days, or a week old. Bear in mind, sometimes you will answer a post made the same day, but the post you are responding too is in a dead thread. This is also not good. If it's from 2006, then no. You will be able to play Poker with the amount of Thread Necromancer cards thrown your way. Of course, sometimes you have to just add to an old thread, simply to save yourself having to start a new one on the same subject. Or finish off a bunch of Elves that have been waiting 6 months to be finished... |

just to give some examples, it would be useless to respond to a 'Help with Miniature Figures' topic that was posted in 2004, chances are the member who posted it has either found the answer 5 years ago or he has quit the hobby. Things like WIP threads and Trade threads are fine to dig out, as you can only use them, and people will like it if they are updated. |
