So October and come and gone. Congrats again to everyone who participated in the One Ring Awards....

Any ideas on when the thousands of votes will be tabulated?

They apparently have already. I came in 5th for Best Painted Miniature, which is something I most certainly did not expect

Yes, congratulations to all the entrants! :D There were a lot of surprises in the painting category, as always, and it was close to call, but I have to agree with the choice of the three winners. In some of the categories the scores were fairly close, and in others there were wide margins.

It was fun trying to guess who made the entries; in some cases I was right, but in others (such as who made the beacon in the beginners section) I was completely wrong; although I did expect the beacon would come first.

The "Deep places of the world" and the "Fall of the witch king" dioramas in the terrain section were pretty amazing, I have to say. The conversions were a bit more difficult to call. I do feel pity for some of the people who got no votes, however. (I noticed some mods snagged last in three categories!)

Anyway, I'll be writing up a report on this for the next edition of the Tengwar Beacon - rather fitting considering a beacon was one of the winners!

Congratulations to all entries, I also found it fun guessing who did what, sometimes I was right, sometime pleasantly suprised :D

Well done folks. I did not try to guess who did what - my scores were purely based on what I could see on screen.

:D Well done everyone. The entries were fantastic. I didn't even think about entering in the painting category because the entries were so awesome - I can't touch that kind of paintwork!
Well done Awcho - that Necromancer was certainly top of my list. It makes me wonder what the army of the dead would look like if treated in the same fashion.
I was pleased and interested to see that the beginner's win went to a terrain piece. Well done Radagast the White - now get back to that tree, I want to see how it turns out!
Thank you to everyone who voted for my entries.
I enjoyed this competition a lot. It made me get down and do some modelling that I wouldn't have got round to otherwise!
Thanks to ukfreddybear for the inspiration and article on sculpting ents which gave me a great starting point for my project.
Kind regards,
and thanks again.
Natarn.

The official announcement will be made or course but I do have a job to do I'm afraid so it will be when I can organise it. The Committee Choice Award will be a few more days yet I fear... but it keeps the tension going ;-)

Oh I will be doing a feedback questionnaire on the One Ring Awards and I would be grateful if as many members as possible can complete it. It will give us a good idea of what has worked and where any problems are.

yeah Congrats everyone(especially you who won something ;) ). thanks for making it sunch a great Contest. I managed to get a 7th place with my radagast and I am very happy with that :D

One thing though, I think the voting time is a bit long. Two weeks should be more than enough?

Cheers,

Andre

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who entered, especially those in the Beginners category. After a shay start the number of entries at the end of the comp was amazing - probably more than we've ever had before.

Congratulations to the winners - this was a tough field with some of the best entries I've ever seen, so well done to you all.

I'll be distributing the Gold Coins to everyone this weekend and organising the prizes for the winners, so if you haven't already done so, please send your address details to either me, DurinsBane, or any of the Competition Committee (Azog, Nygyll or Potenza). We'll get the prizes shipped out ASAP.

The next competition will be run in April next year - there's plenty of time, so all you terrain builders can make a start now ok!

It was a great comp all around and I wanted to thanks to all that took the time to view and vote.

That Necromancer was just amazing and I REALLY hope (hint hint) we see a HowTo soon. I actually started trying to get a look like that on a Castellan back before the comp entry was posted (using images of Minas Morgul as a guide for the green glow) and was just getting frustrated. Once I saw the Necromancer image posted I put it aside and told myself I'll wait until November and see how an expert did it. 8)
