So guys, after scratch building a battlefields worth of ruins and terrain, I came to the topic of varnishing. I am aware its not necessary, but I'd like to anyway. That aside, how do I tell if the varnish is enough? I understand that if I apply thin coats and don't put dozens of it won't go cloudy, but how do I know if I've even COVERED THE WHOLE MODEL? In this case building, but the former as well: do you guys have any tips on checking or maybe for the process of applying to help me get my varnishing right?

Cheers.

You could get a brush on varnish and then you could tell the "wet" covered areas from the uncovered ones. Or if you want tk spray, do a gloss coat first then follow that up with matte coats. I usually only varnish terrain that I give to my FLGS because those pieces see so much abuse.

Section it off in your mind and cover one part at a time and methodically work your way around. You can even write it down and tick each off if it helps.
