I was wondering which one people have found the best. Woodland Scenics is expensive compared to Vallejo but is it a case of over pricing or do you get what you pay for, quality ?

Thanks Dreadknight. I've never used any water effects etc so I'm simply curious as to where to spend my money. I figured that somebody will have used both and know the difference.

I can second the Woodland Scenics stuff I used their Realistic Water and Water Effects in this board HERE, very good stuff and very easy to use. I am going to be working on a new specific article for rivers soon.

Thanks, I'm a little surprised no one has used Vallejo products.

I have used Still Water. I did not see your post. Still water works fine for small areas but can take a very long to dry if used on a large area. Woodland Scenic materials are generally easier to use.

Thanks Charlie, I think I will get some Vallejo soon and try it out. I've red that if you keep it to 3-4mm layers it works well but the proof will be in the pudding.

I can vouch for Woodland Scenics also, however, whichever you choose, the key is how much you pour. As said above, if you pour too much, it will take forever, and in some cases, will never set inside if poured too thick. The times I have used it, I mixed a small amount, pour it, let it set and then added more.
Hope this helps.

Yes it will thanks. I have a pond I'm plotting on the horizon so every little bit of info always helps.

One thing which I did not state (which is the most important), whichever product you choose to use....read the instructions before use.

It seems so obvious but duly noted, I'm sure I'm not the only one who has said, I wish I had read the instructions !
Your point earlier about multiple thin layers is a general theme I've picked up on. I just can't wait to start it but I've a long long way to go with my Bag End before I get to this stage.

I used Vallejo Water effects for a bigger and thicker water. (I used multiple thin layers.)
It worked very well, but after 2-3 years later it all began to shrink at all sides, so I had to add plus foliage and other things to hide it. :(
