Please, take the poll and make comments. Take the budget poll if you have not done so. Thanks.
Make suggestions for what you would like to see.
I reviewed the random terrain creator in LOME are there others I should look for?
Also make suggestions for rules if there should be any. My goal is for every one to have some nice terrain to play on at a reasonable price.I think we will have fun making it.
Write in votes are welcome!

I like the idea of creating a marshland piece of terrain, I'm kinda stuck for space to do any terrain type projects and all the options sound like they need to be on the large side. I think I could make a compact piece of marshland maybe not much use on the gaming side of things but certainly as a display piece with some miniatures on. :)

Would a CD sized marsh be to large? I was trying to get an idea what people might need and want. The method for a small marsh would be the same as a large.

Image
I had something this size in mind.If the marsh needs to be larger they could be combined. The same with rock out crops or trees.

I was thinking something a little bigger - maybe something you could fit about 20 or so models on - maybe more an old LP size

Yeh that size would be perfect. I would like to make larger pieces of terrain but as I say I have barely enough room for my miniatures.

I voted for the hill...
I know it's only something very basic and simple (well, depends on how far you'd go), but since I plan to start learning the game I think it would be a nice first actual terrain-thingy to have...
But that counts for all the rest aswell, heh.

I think a how to store and transport the terrain sections would be a good article as well.

Everything I originally made for the Shire fits into one foot locker. My camera is in the charger. I have not made a more current photo.

I would say trees and forests as you can use them almost anywhere so I think it is a good place to start 8)

I'm really voting against the village. Its just not very usuable nor portable. All the other objects can be fairly universal and while it would be cool to see a bunch of villages for different armies, I think it would be too over whelming for many to complete. I have so many other projects going that I would likely be out of the village running as well.

I agree a village is definitely not viable for me to participate in......

This a very strong negative reaction. Although, I think I can over come your objections a village might be intimidating to start.
The next thing that concerns me as how much space most of you have. So how do I find out?
Please comment :!:

I voted for Hill since my group is saying "We realllyyy need some new hills."

My first hill was a good attempt but it has served its purpose and is very bulky in height. I'm looking at some rolling grassy hills. I started one today... and skinned my knuckle with the exacto-knife.

Just a reminder guys... be very careful with Knifes.

 Files are the proper tools for skinning knuckles
What materials were you trying to use?

I voted for the ruin as these too can be used anywhere in Middle Earth. Not that the others can't.
The ruins, if done properly, add that air of Lord of the Rings more than the others can.

I agree wholeheartedly with Mr Wah. Ruins are very useful for Eregion, Arnor or Osgiliath, or just general middle-earth wilderness.
Also you can use lots of different materials. Hirst Arts blocks, cardboard, foamcore, polystyrene, spackle/Polyfilla, plaster, house paint, sand, sawdust, ground cork, broken bits of sprue for rubble, whatever. and they look great painted up! :) You can incorporate plant elements like vines and weeds to make it look like they have been there for a while.

Since I don't have a hot knife/hotwire cutter and I couldn't find my drywall knife I was shaping 1" Styrofoam with an Exacto-Knife. I could of used a steak knife but I was having too much fun. I put it in a vice and was cutting it upright using downward strokes (maybe not the safest idea since I'm cutting towards me rather than away). Ya know... I have no idea what is the most effective/safest set-up for doing this. I was thinking of clamping it flat on the table and peeling it away from me. That sounds right.. I'll have to give it a try tomorrow.
