And I have a question about the MDF; is 4mm too thin?
I found what seems to be a god price for 10 x mdf sheets, 600mm x 300mm x 4mm thick; allowing me to build a sizeable modular map, but if that's going to warp like crazy I'd like to know.

Hmm... I don't see any problem whatsoever with 4mm MDF. As long as you don't put too much weight on it everything'll work out just fine. However concerning the warping, I can't tell you whether it'll warp or not... my guess is it won't... MDF is some pretty solid stuff.

Good luck (:

It may warp a bit but it may not warp at all. Very helpful, right? :)

My 10 mm thick 600 mm * 1200 mm boards have warped somewhat (only in the 'long direction'), but since you'll have smaller pieces you may not have any trouble even with 4 mm. In any case it's probably not going to warp like crazy.

Ok, thanks guys. I'll buy those soonish, and at the price I guess it doesn't actually matter all that much if they do a little.

One tip I can give you is, paint the underside also.
It prevents the warping effect significantly with 4mm thick MDF.

Ah yes, I would have completely forgot about that had you not reminded me. I'd be rather embarrassed actually to have missed that, should it have warped.
