I need help with a project I am planing. I do so much need to know how to make Goblin Town. I need help with what exactly what I want to make. I have re-read the Hobbit. I am going to start reading Mr. Baggins tonight. The movie is still some time away. At the very least I think we can come up with some nice elements for the dwarf realms or Shelob's lair. I already have some elements for Moria and Drurin's stair. I am sure we will be able to come up with a way to incorporate some new game pieces.

It's a cave with a back door , lake, king goblins throne room, winding tunnels?
So How or where do we start? :?

Down, down down, to Goblin Town. :-D :-D

Well...there is some useful guides to building the Goblin King's lair in BGiME issue 82, 83 or 84, can't remeber which one.
Regardless, i would love to see how this project goes if you can get it off the ground, but unfortunately I am no specialist on Gobins, I only have 12 and Durburz. :-D

I don't believe it was available in the USA. It may be some where on the web but I have had no luck.

I would like the input. Just because you are not playing Goblins now doesn't mean you don't have some fun ideas.

I started work on Goblin Town. There are photos in my work in progress post.
I am looking for suggestions for the Goblin King Hall/lair. Any ideas on what elements to include?

I am also looking for suggestions for the cave/shelter, the location for the crack of doom.

ive been wanting to do Gundabad for a long time, just love the name, BUT Goblin town is crucial! the thing that has always stood out to me was how primitive it seemed in the books, no carvings or elaborate decorations, but the part that stuck with me was the exit door that Bilbo had to leap over and the slope not far away where they all took shelter from the wargs. If you want to go uber realistic id have some bone piles and refuse and an unhealthy paint job to boot. I think if I was going to tackle this I would use 2-3 inch tall foam tunnel walls with some switch backs to break up LOS. in a perfect world you could have differant elevations with the Lake being the lowest, the throne room a bit higher and the tunnels varying in height and width across the table in a mini labrynth. Any greater depth on the tunnel walls may cause issues when reaching across the table to move the miniatures. I would add a troll den ( why not haha?) with some sleeping trolls for fun....so much potential with this! Oh and I wouldnt add torches to the walls or anything "humanish"

I'm loving it! Such effort works great for this or under developed regions of Moria as well.

At home I have the Goblin Town supplement from ICE for their old Middle Earth Role Playing (MERP) game. I'll try to take a look at it in the next few days to see if there are any extras that might add some extra interest. But I think you're doing as well as anyone could suggest. As posted above, avoiding anything "mannish" like torches and doors made in our image of functionality. Heaps of rubbish (some piles of scrap cloth with some dirt and washes of black/brown) could be left in various corners near living areas and entrances. Any carved work should look functional but not necessarily "neat" and level. Even without PJ's suggestion that Goblins can climb like roaches, they are still very sure-footed and would move around rocky terrain and cave work as well as we move around a grassy field so they may not put too much work into making things easy for surface dwellers. Some webs blocking little side tunnels that suggest they go off somewhere deep and dark would add to the visual appeal during play as well (and could be someplace Spiders are allowed to deploy or reinforce from if you choose).

I like the idea of a cave for some trolls. Since the troll in FotR was chained then maybe make it look more like a cage area or put large stakes in the ground with some chain attached so suggest it's where the Goblins keep their trolls chained up when not needed. It would really be a rough area as far as debris, corpses, refuse, etc. I would imagine.
