Here's a small update of what I've done today.. doesn't look like much but it certainly takes up time.

Image

The buildings not finished & the roof looks terrible at the moment.. need to work on it yet

At the further side on the city area i will have the paving grown over with stones, grass & some bushy things.. Apart from me looking like i just came back from the beach with all the sand.. all is good!

Thank you

Nice work, especially on the ruined building. 8)
The paving might have looked better with smaller gaps between each stone or smaller stones, but that's perhaps something to remember for next time...

I agree with Elessar, the ruined building is fantastic! However, I also have to agree that smaller gaps would have looked better, but heck, it still looks great! :-D

Can't wait to see it finished!

Some colour has been added now with the lush green grass & forests on the other side.. the trees will be permanently there but i just used a few movable ones at the moment.

Here's a quick peek of a building I've started.. untill i ran out of foam so that'll have to wait. It's my first time making a large building so i think it's not half bad for a first try. Still not finished yet but I'll update you once i have.

I thought I should revive this thread since I've started working on these boards again. I've aborted the board that was done up because it looks awful. The Osgiliath side is going to have several ruins which will be made out of hirst arts blocks. I'm stuck for what I should do for paving on the city side, so any suggestions would be of great help.

The green side of the board I'm going to pva the whole thing and add sand. I've sanded the hills more just so it's easier for the models to stay on. This can't be achieved untill I've finished making moulds of the new Thomarllion pieces. For I wouldn't mind playing around with them and see if I can adapt them for my own use. The hills and small cliffs will be great for some obsticles. I'll have some ruins dotted around, and plenty of tree's for cover.

Progress will likely be slow at the moment because I'm often busy. The first update is just to show you the pieces I got from Thomarllion. I made a small base for the statue which has turned out well. I had to plaster the top to get an even surface. Anywhoo - here are the pictures.

Sorry for the large pictures once again, still figuring this program out and partly can't be bothered. :P
It's also quite amusing to see how much I've improved from the previous pictures at the start of this thread!

Here's a quick update on what I've done since my last post. The hirst blocks really give off an Osgiliath feel I find. Comments or any suggestions would be great. *hint hint* :D

It looks great to me at the moment. With the building maybe flip one side around because at the moment the corners are looking a bit strange because it doesn't look like it was a whole building before. I hope you can understand this. You have improved a lot though 8)

What are you going to use for your grass? I'm having trouble finding any large bags to use on my board.
Keep up the amazing work though.

Yeah I know what you mean by the corner of the building, it's facing the wrong way. I realised that - but not to worry I can just move that somewhere else on the board. I can then make another one which will work better with it.

It does not look awful. You put a lot of work into it. It looks fine. However, paper and card board rarely looks as good as cast blocks. You should look into some floor or paving blocks. You have put #65 to good use. The post from #45 looks good but it needs a capital.
Finish the old board and buildings quickly and sell them off.Use the proceeds to buy new molds.

Ah, it's very nice to see that you have revived this board.
And your skills have improved a lot since the last attempt.

About the pavement, try wallpaper, there are several styles with all kinds of bricks.
(just make sure you buy it yourself because I got it for my birthday, so now I have 15m of stucco wallpaper)
There are several articles with basics for orsgiliath in bgime, if you want the articles, just pm me with you e-mail.
And as oldman willow pointed out, you can also use casted tiles.
That's probably the best option but also a more expensive one. (and heavy)

The last update for today, and I'm guessing progress will be slower through the week. It's not quite the lime stone colour I wanted.. anyone know how to perfect it? I used a base coat of 'Kommando Khaki' and a dry brush of 'Bleached Bone' aswell as a dry brush of very light grey. The grey might have been my problem, for it did say white but I don't have any at the moment.

@Willow: Cheers Willow. What did you mean by it needs a captial? I'll try and finish off the otherside of the board off and sell it, which will be helpful for my moulds funds. :) Don't worry I'll be working on the Weathertop model as well so i'll be switching from projects.

@Aqan: Yes there quite a difference, but I am using hirst arts so it's cheating a little compair to last time. Wallpaper sounds like a good idea, I'll have to search round for a decent wallpaper. I PM'ed you about the OSgiliath basics.
