Redoing all of my Gondor Bases

Well I'm going to redo my entire Gondor army from bases that used to look like this:

to this:

What do you all think?

I like that the new bases aren't so clean and stark

A worthy goal my friend! They look great, and really finish off the models nicely. To be honest, the original photo looks like they're half finished, while the newer pictures really beds them in- I can imagine them charging through the streets of Osgiliath

Did you use small pieces of cardboard for the bases?
Tell us a bit more about it, it looks good!

You can find in the end of this topic nice ideas, I used em and made superb results! But I don't have my minis with me ( I am on holidays) to show the mmy results o this... :/

Thanks everyone! I put pieces of cardboard to represent bricks, then I put on bits and pieces of sand scattered around it to make it appear as if they were fighting through once a great city now in ruin.
