GenCon is less than a week away here in the US, being held in Indianapolis, Indiana as usual, from the 13th-16th. A great time to waste my money on minis and decorative weapons, and maybe attend some interesting events/classes.

Any One-Ringers here plan on attending?

Oh, I wish! A bunch of my friends had thought about voulenteering at the con, but since half of us were unable to get off work we can't go :sad:

Darn. I was lucky enough to get off work for the Con. I understand how hard it is to grab four days from work (Even longer if you have a distance to travel. Glad to live an hour or two away).

I didn't actually bring any models. I hardly bought any, either. Instead I rekindled my love for Magic the Gathering (2,000 cards for 25$? Yes please) and found a new TCG called The Spoils.

And then I bought sharp things.

I also won 3rd place in the Zombie Walk costume contest for being Undead Jesus. Woo!

Play Nice, Ingold. Or at least try to be civil.

What is this GenCon exactly? Can you play games there as well?

We should totally get in a MTG game. No idea if I'm any good anymore... It will most probably turn out like the COD4 games we played against each other :o

Sorry to have offended you with my extremely brief report on my experience, Ingold. I didn't realize it was so upsetting to you and that you were forced to read it.

@Joansean: It's a convention dedicated to everything tabletop (and a few things electronic). There's a large exhibit hall full of vendor booths for everything nerds could ask for- cheap prices on models, terrain, cards, weaponry, steampunk gear, anime, etc. etc. They do have a large open gaming area, as well as events you can sign up for. Games Workshop isn't hugely represented event-wise (A Fantasy and a 40k tournament), but there are a number of people who play openly and a few vendors selling their products. It's a really good place to try new games (Many of the beginner events range from free to 4$) and have a good time. Then there's events like the Zombie Walk and the Masquerade ball, which are always a blast.

All in all, it's a great time, but your experience may be limited if you go only to play GW games. LoTR and WoTR weren't popular there this year.

@Godly: It's all good. Too bad I can't use a silencer in MTG.

Seems like a great place! I think I'll try to go there next year :wink:

@Ingy: Chillax ma brotha! :rofl:
