Does anyone know a nice, fast-playing Napoleonic ruleset for division or corps level actions, that I can use with 1/72 scale mini's? Because my own attempts don't quite catch the flavour of the period.

although I have never played it the "fire and Fury - Napoleonic rules" I have heard are quite good
I miss the days of playing "shako" my favourite Napoleonic rules, so simple and fast play

Tankus Doggus, you have played the FnF set; it's called Age of Eagles. The basic unit is a Brigade and therefore the rules are Corps-Army 'level'. iirc, your Prussians were,ermm, roughly handled by my lads.....

Telchar, there are a gazillion Napoleonic rules out there, but I prefer for a 3-ish hour club night game Lasalle or Black Powder. My preferred fave, which I play at home, is General De Brigade Deluxe edition, presses all of my Napoleonic buttons as it were.
Try googling 'Napoleonic rule reviews' and also go to 'Deep Fried Happy Mice's site as has an excellent rules review section.

why do they change the names each time?, just to confuse us old buggerz, or is it early oldtimers?? do seem to remember playing some napoleonic game against with/you ? cu in several weeks when returns from USA

Thanks! With the help of some folks on another forum, I've found "A Near Run Thing" which are quite nice playing rules (though absolutely obfusticatingly written) so I'll be using those.

Just out of curiosity--

Does anyone know of a store that has stock left of Warhammer Historical: Waterloo? It was released not long before GW dropped WH and the rules were based on War of the Ring. Hardback, 300 pages, full color. I would love a copy!

Telchar, how has A Near Run Thing been for you? I think if I was seriously considering getting into Napoleonics, I would go with Black Powder (as it is, I'm just trying to locate a lavish rulebook).

Also, has anyone looked into Napoleon at War by Men at War? Does anyone own the rulebook or miniatures?

Reviews spoke very highly of both Napoleon and BP, but they cost money, so for me they were out...

A Near Run Thing suits my needs perfectly. You have the battalions, regiments and batteries on the table you need to make it really "Napoleonic" while at the same time you can play a battle like Austerlitz or Wagram in an estimable time (if you have a giganormous table, that is).

The only thing is that it's written like thick fog. You really need to play it twice or thrice before you get the basic rules, reading won't do. And I recommend skipping things like evading cavalry charges as artillery altogether until you really know the rules by heart.
