I'm starting a 17th Century Spanish force in 1/72 for my home-made rules, but I can't find any minies for them :o . Does anyone know a producer who makes nice 1/72 Spanish troops (or just "generic" 17th century Cuirassiers, Dragoons, Cannon and Heavy infantry)?

Any reason why you want 1/72 scale? Warlord Games have 28mm plastic and metal figures you could possibly use. If not search through here, lists pretty much every 1/72 figures going: http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/Periods.aspx

Well, my rules are calculated for 1/72, but that isn't the biggest problem. My brother already has an Ukrainain, a Polish, a Russian and an Ottoman army in 1/72, and 28 mm would just look weird next to them. On the other side, if I can convince him to switch to 28mm, I might go for those.

Hi Telchar, we are doing TYW (using Baroque Impetus: http://www.dadiepiombo.com/bbaroq1.html) in 28mm using the Warlord stuff, along with a few others for gaps, and the P&S period is very cool and under-used by Wargamers.

However, I can see the cost advantage of 1/72. Plastic Soldier Review! (for all your 1/72): http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/Per ... ?period=10

Cheers

Thanks hithero and Xelee.

@ Xelee. Impetus seems nice, but a bit wierd to me (maybe because I'm too mean to actually buy the rules?), so I won't try it when you can just write your own rules! (ie. play slightly modified Baroque WOTR). Which reminds me, WOTR is brilliant for adaption into other settings (mainly historicals) because the problem with it is the o.p. Epic Hero combo's, but with historicals, you don't have Epic Heroes!

Hi Telchar, you did see that Basic Baroque is based on Basic Impetus.... which is a completely free ruleset, right :)

The one we have to pay for is hopefully due 2012. Much as I love WOTR, it misses too many important elements of ancient and medieval combat, IMO. Pefect for high-fantasy battles though.
