hi everyone. im currently making a card / board game based on gladiatoral combat i have everything worked out except for a combat system. so i would like to know weather you would prefer a card based system or a dice based one. and i anyone has any great ideas of how to do the combat i would love it.

Dice-based IMO. That's what us SBGer's and WOTR'ers spend a lot of our spare time doing--rolling dice. :)

Definately dice. The random chance is better with dice IMO.

I also would go for the dice. Because it's a fair system. And i don't think cards are that fun , the only thing i like about cards is their drawings. Dice make the game simple. And no calculating card points or things like that. Dunno of you get what i mean. ( For example pokémon with hp and stuff like that. - and all those energy cards and trainers,... - i don't really like it -) Rolling dices is fun! :)

Ok great. Would you prefer set abilities or random ones? I.e. Should I give each person 3 set abilities they can use once per fight. Or have people pick up tactics cards they can discard to use? Also would the dice be better as contested rolls or should they be agaist a static base dependant on armour?cheers
