Eureka Miniatures are developing a tabletop wargame to go with their (bizarre) Pax Limpopo range of figures.

If you've never seen these quirky little guys, head on over to the Eureka site and take a look: Pax Limpopo Range

A few friends have been playtesting this game for a while now and invited me to join them and it's been an absolute pleasure getting involved in this odd game.

I could spend a half an hour explaining the idea behind the world, but that'd be boring. Basically, the history of the 19th Century has been altered slightly and Queen Victoria (God bless her) has married Shaka, king of the Zulus, forging the great empire known as Pax Limpopo. Britain (and her African allies) have a number of enemies, notably the Prussians and French. But the Britsh have a technological superiority with their development of steam-powered tanks and suits as well as unicycle-mounted lancers (more reliable than horses).

Here are a few of the minis I've added to my collection (and I have a whole load more on order).

Work In Progress - a statue of the great god Baal*[/center]

* I should probably explain this...

Baal was a Canaanite god whose followers were persecuted by the Hittites and Hebrews after Moses came down from the mountain with the 10 commandments. He (Baal) was eventually adopted into the Egyptian pantheon and, when the Egyptians expanded their empire to the furthest reaches of Europe (betcha didn't know that did ya!), Baal and his worshipers went along.

Settling in a pleasant land in the far western islands, in an area now known as Wimbledon, Baal's devoted followers built a complex of temples and tombs in which to worship their deity and inter their fallen.

As the Egyptian empire declined, the followers of Baal stayed true to their god. They believed they were the offspring of their god, born from Baal's womb. They became known as the Womb-baals of Wimbledon.
