Speaking of Marines, this through from Warlord for release in January:

And!

The Thin Red Line, anyone? And since they made the Japanese forces recently, you could play games based on Flags of Our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima (directed by Clint Eastwood).
Not forgetting Windtalkers.

Great scene.

Great rule system, love playing it.

Great figures and good scene! Due to my recent move to a different country, I have been unable to make any new terrain, seeing pictures like that makes me really frustrated and want to make more! I very much enjoyed flags of our fathers and letters from iwo jima. However Windtalkers is one of the worst WW2 films of all time, and a shame because the native american wind talkers is a very interesting subject but they simply took extremely minor roles in the film. The Thin Red Line has incredibly beautiful shots and was a visual spectacular, however I did find the film very slow paced and the fight scenes disappointing.

I was not thinking of the movies really, rather the campaigns they are set in and the narrative possibilities, such as having a Windtalker and his escort dodging Japanese patrols while a rescue party is on the way.
Letters from Iwo Jima is a stunning film - the first I can remember that gives the Japanese perspective of the ground war in the pacific.

It's amazing it's only been just over a year since Bolt Action was launched, the range has got so big

The minis have existed for several years, some of them for longer as they are updated versions of those produced by one or two smaller manufacturers that Warlord bought. The ruleset, campaign/army books and the growing range of plastics are what has really pushed things along and Beasts of War's fantastic game video brought me off the fence.

Same, I watched the videos they did and started to get into BA, a great way of promoting a game system.

There are some other manufacturers whose minis are the same scale and era as WW2 Bolt Action, notably the Perrys and Blitzkrieg Miniatures. The Perrys have 2 great box sets of plastics for the Western Desert - 8th Army and Afrika Korps, plus metals for command units, heavy weapons etcetera.
I was perusing Blitzkrieg's site at the weekend; both it and their Facebook page have some stunning new minis they are planning to release in 2014. Have a look!

LRPG? Long Range Desert Group is what you intended (you're not using one of those pestilential voice-interfaces?)
The Chevy was just one of many vehicles used at one time or another by all sides in North Africa. In fact, at times it got very confusing because both sides had so much captured equipment belonging to each other, and some of it was recaptured... and then captured again... and so on.
There is a great story about a British despatch rider whose motorcycle broke down and he flagged down a military staff car, and asked if they were going to 3rd brigade hq, and one officer said yes. So the despatch rider jumps in and looks about and says this is an odd looking car, to which the other guy replies yes, this is a German car and we are German officers. The despatch rider muttered a few words I am not allowed to use here :) But they were advancing on 3rd brigade hq so he wasn't telling any porkies.

Excellent story, just started reading a book about Rommels and Montgomery, it's really good.

Yes I ment LRDG! Good old typo.

Nice to see the Perry Brothers range for WW2 North Africa growing in size of range.

Hey Dorth, do you have any links to that story? I'd like to read more about it.

It is in a book - Destiny in the Desert: The road to El Alamein - the Battle that Turned the Tide - By Jonathan Dimbleby.
There is a link to one on ebay with the story I mentioned but how long that will stay active I do not know:

This would not be difficult to build from scratch. The company makes some nice stuff.
