Hello!

I want to show you how I paint my miniatures. I collect Rohan and Isengard, but I don't play with them.
Lucky me, because I don't have heroes suitable for these armies

I really want to improve my painting skills, so please critisize my miniatures

Here's one I painted a year ago: my isengard troll

And a close-up on the chest:

Hope you like them!

Nice troll rheodon. I like the dark metals and the dark skintone, very fitting for a troll. It would be nice to see some of your latest works.

Thanks guys!
The only thing I hate about it and the winged nazgul I'm painting are the gaps...
I don't have any green stuff to fill it in.

I'd strongly recommend getting some. Filling in the gaps is the difference between a good model and an excellent model.

Any advice to make the third one better?

The metal looks a bit flat, for the next one you could try basecoating the metal chainmail and then using a highlight/drybrush of mithril silver over the basecoat. To make the 2 already painted look better you can just apply a badab black wash.

I really like the green cloaks, but perhaps you could just go one extra stage lighter with the highlighting to really make them 'pop'. Good job either way!

Hi rheodon, these look great! I'd give the scalemail on the RRG's a quick wash of Badab Black...that will define the edges of the scales better for you.
Well done! 8)

I don't have badab black, but could I also try doing it with chaos black, mixed with a lot of water?

Yes that should work to. -- if it gets to dark - u can still highlight it with metal again.

Chaos black, lots of water, and a small drop of PVA glue I've found makes a nice substitute for a wash (it's actually what I used before the foundation washes were released, and I've gone back to using this method now).

Here's some progress on the third Rohan Royal Guard, well actually only the base is done yet.
Hope you like it!

The troll looks great. Best attempt at weathered metal I have seen. Bit more shading and highlighting on those rohan guards and they will look awesome too.

Hey Rheodon, I've got a bit of a cheeky question for you - would you mind if I pinched your idea and copied the rohan base to go with my Theoden miniature...all credit to you of course!

I would be honored if you did!
But I have one condition, could I see it first when you finish it?

I hope the royal guard will fit the base!
starting on him now keeping your advice in mind
