These are the Lothlorien elf Warrior I have been painting. They are in need of basing, but they will have to fight soon, with or without it. I am not happy with the result on so many levels, but I guess I will do better next time. Too bad though, because I really liked these elves. The Lotr miniatures are not that easy to paint and they are way smaller than other wahammer miniatures.

I like your color choices, well done.

Nice brushwork and an interesting color palette.

Judging from these pictures, I would say that the elves look very good. Interesting yet clearly elfish colour choices. Is there anything in particular, apart from the bases, that you are not happy with?

I recognize the frustration when going from painting Warhammer to LotR. Even though you are using the very same paints as on your Warhammer miniatures, the colours seem to look different on LotR miniatures. They say it is because smaller miniatures cast way less natural shadows. Your favourite main brush may also be too big for LotR miniatures.

Looking good, and will be great when the bases are done!

Any ideas on basing theme? I am doing some Lothlorien and went for a kind of forest floor colour on the base using some GW Stirland mud with some light brown drybrushing. But still trying to work out what else to add ... some tufts, or try some leaves for a sort of autumn look.

I always get a bit torn too between trying new schemes for a new army, or trying to match the bases of my existing models in case I ally them together!

Well I am not happy with how they turned out because I find them sloppy. The color scheme is more fantasy than Tolkien, but I really like it. I like it so much, I painted a Rohirim cavalrymen like this. He looks happy! Will post him when he is done for feedback. As for the bases, well I have given the elves to my husband and he is going to base them. I am guessing grass and perhaps flowers. I want to pain them all over again and at Athens same time I don’t want to see another elf in my life! Finally my favourite brush is a size 0 so I had no real issues apart from the fact that I need to change it because it’s tip is ruined.

In defence of the elves, I can't detect any noticable flaws in the pictures. I think they are better than you believe, even though I understand your striving for further improvements.
