Hi everyone!

Welcome to my WIP.

I have recently begun work on an extensive Goblin Town collection, and I thought the addition of a few torture machines would add character to my army. The Mangler especially would make a really terrifying centre piece. There are only two shots of it in the film, but they are enough to make anyone start squawking! Thank goodness Gandalf came to save the dwarves in time!

As GW doesn't sell any torture machines, I decided to construct one from scratch myself. I started with the hardest part, the spiked metal gratings. The first one was completed today. I tried using plastic card, but ended up using cardboard instead.

Brilliant work! Any idea what effect it may play in a game? or is it purely to spruce up a goblin town board? Could be a nice idea to add a bit of much needed variation to one (from the usual planks and rocks).

I definitely intend to use it in my games, and I'm planning to convert some goblins to carry it into battle. Still not sure about its rules though... It could act as a Banner and cause Terror, or maybe even have a unique special rule, something that reflects it actually use? Perhaps if you reduce an enemy Hero to zero wounds, instead of killing him, you could choose to remove him to the Mangler instead, where he is tortured and forced to pass a Courage Test. If he fails you might gain some kind of bonus, say some free Might points to one of your own Heroes? Just a random crazy idea. I might start a thread to discuss this later. Would be fun to come up with something! :)

A define cool think to make even if it doesn't get a lot of practical use. I would guess that rules. 3 attacks maybe and on a successful strike the opponent is put in the grinder, roll for damage, even if no wounds are scored he is left prone... I don't know.. but when you get a final rules and picks I am sure we can all check it out.
