Post subject:  A dark Kingdom rises in the north……

Greetings! New member here!

I had an Angmar Army from the moment it was first introduced in a WD all those years ago and I have been a faithful servant of the Witch King ever since.

A few Weeks ago I decided to motivate other players in my club to start Lotr again. And what better way then to make a small campaign finished of by a massive multiplayer battle?

We decided that we wanted to play an "alternate history" campaign.

What if instead of Saruman turning evil, the Witch King somehow was able to resurrect his ancient kingdom in the north? Angmar would be the threat for the free peoples in the west while Mordor attacked from the east. We found it to be an interesting concept for our campaign.

So I decided to start my Angmar Army all over. At least 2000 points are my goal at the moment. In this thread I will present you my progress in the creation of this army, as well as the campaign.

I had a few days of from university and so i started my project.

First off a small selection of species you will get to see in this thread.

from left to right: An Orc from Mount Gundabad (made from different bits of historical minis and tons of green stuff), a cave troll, a Barrow Wight and a Warrior of Carn Dum (again tons of bits and GS)

More to come soon!

Welcome!

Brilliant conversions and paint jobs, what miniature did you use for the conversion of the Warrior of Carn Dum?

What a great first post and welcome :)

I would love to see some closer up shots of your miniatures, looks like there's going to be some nice conversions and painting in there.

Awesome work dude! We don't see Angmar miniatures too often and they have an intriguin atmosphere.

Please upload some individual photographs of them.

Thanks Guys!

The Carn Dun Warrior is based on a Gripping Beast Viking, Fireforge Games bits for helmet, shield and sword. The Spikes on the helmet are bayonets from Victrix :-D the rest is GS

Thanks a lot for the kind words!

Yes the Gundabads are largely based on the Fireforge Sergants. Some weapons are Perry and GB!. But mostly Fireforge. I also found the crouched guys perfect for Ork anatomy.

If you are interested I can post some WIPs of whats next in line.....

Very impressive stuff! Oddly, I never thought of kitbashing Orcs from Historicals, I may have to try that in future!

A few WIP shots:

First off my stand in for Gothmog/Agandaur as you con see a high born Dark Numenorian. The model is based on an old Theoden miniature and finished of with some historical bits. Didn't bother to strip the paint of it since it was so thin.

and then a few lowly Orks I just love the old metal ones so much

Still much to do for these

Post subject:  Re: A dark Kingdom rises in the north…...

lots of creativity put into this warband, I really like them, my only criticism is the uniformity in the paint scheme, not of my taste for orcs, except for Morannon orcs.
Beautiful work with GS and I'm anticipating the hero based on Theoden to be finished.
