Clay shapers are what you will need, not got any myself yet but I know they are generally the tools of choice.

I used, a old small screwdriver, tweezers, blade and a old paint brush with abit of metal in it. at the moment it looks ok.

Hi,

Ive started taking photos of Talion model as I go. When its done Ill upload them all.

2 things, Can you glue something n the green stuff

and

how long does it take for the green stuff to fully harden up?

You can use super glue with green stuff though depending on the part you may want to use a pin. I usually leave green stuff overnight but I'm guessing a few hours should be okay as long as the area isn't going to receive any heavy handling.

Thank you, as it was my first time using it I thought it would set like a rock, but it still has abit of give in it, so Ive just been putting pva glue on it for now.

Should only need a little bit of super glue for what I want.

:)

Just finished painting Saruman mounted, just got the horse left. I know in the picture of it, he has a black horse, but I think Ill do mine a brown colour as the black Ive got is, well rubbish.

Over the weekend, finished a ringwraith as well, thanks to the black paint, Its had alot of black coats on it. Overall Im happy with it, 6 left to get now :)

Remember that this is a work in progress thread so we want to see how they develop all the way from sprue to finished (particularly the Talion conversion) ;)

Ive got pictures at different stages, but my USB device got snapped in half, so waiting on a new one. Just added little extra metal to the smaller dagger and the fur outer lining on the cape. going to wait for that to set then do the fur line around the neck of the cape. But I think thats it for today for Talion.

Going to work on Saruman's horse today, and hopefully base if its done :)

But glad Ive got some different black paint now. Thanks to the black paint it covered up a lot of the detail on Bilbo so hes got a silly face. He sorta looks like Norman from Fireman Sam.

Hopefully this works;

This ringwraith was in a metal lot of broken or missing pieces, this was complete but didnt have the metal slit to put into a stand. In the lot was Legolas and Gimli mounted, Gandalf the white (both missing the right arm) Frodo, Easterling Warrior and the king of the dead (missing sword) cost £3.99 inc postage. Bar this and Gandalf the white the rest are up for trade. The Gandalf figure I am customizing into a mounted gandalf the grey as I refuse to pay £50 for it.

Anyway the Ringwraith, this is my 3rd Ringwraith, 6 to go. quite basic really, painted black, drybrushed, Shadow Grey, drybrushed Boltgun metal on the metal. I used the older paints for it.

Also, just got base for Saruman to do and then will upload pictures of him.

Talion, fur around the neck today with green stuff and then glueing the scabbards on and then undercoating.

Post subject:  Re: My Works in progress

So, here is the start of my Gandalf conversion, probably will look similar to the white one really.

So far, I cut some of the cloak off, cut the spare bits of metal around his feet, filled down the right arm, repositioned the legs of the horse (abit), cut the horses mouth so there is a gap now.

Image

I cut the top of Gandalf's head off and filled that area down. My friend gave me his plastic Gandalf the Grey from the mines of moria (was mine) and I cut the hat off of that model and filled that down and cut a small area so the head can fit in a little better.

Image

I have also cut the right arm off of that model and cut the sword off, when the arm is glued into place I will use green stuff to add to the cloak and make the arm look better. I will also use the green stuff to make the reins for the horse. After that is dried I will cut the staff off the plastic figure and glue it into place. Then Paint.

The cloak on Gandalf the grey is on as well as the right arm. Just going to let that all set before moving, so thats tomorrows pictures with Saruman mounted.
