yea johnnie, it still have alot to do as its no where near done so there will be lots more detail. i dont want to paint it like the eavymetal team though as they seem to paint the gundabads to crisp and i feel they should look alot more dirty and menacing! 8)

Looking really good so far. The brown cloth areas look to have been highlighted up nicely and I look forward to seeing the finished product. Are you going to dirty up the armour any more? I think a brown wash or two followed by an edge highlight would look pretty good and dirty like they ought to be - I agree with you that GW's are far too clean and shiny for my liking.

Looks really great! Have you thought of maybe adding some gore effects onto this particular Orc, I reckon the Gundabad's are probably the most brutal of Orc-breeds GW have gifted us with, so I think some blood on the sword, armour, and possibly the mouth would work great?

Also, I'd be interested to know what brown(s) have you used on the area of cloth in between his legs? I'm looking for that scheme for some Mirkwood Elves and am yet to find the right combination.

a bit of gore does look good on some models, its really hard to pull off though without bordering on takey though. i do what to make him look more grubby and rusty though :-D as far as colour scheme goes for the cloth i use an inventory of old GW paints, i used scorched brown for the base colour, then a mix of black and brown washes. then i high lighted over with scorched brown, then on top of that another highlight with 50\50 mournfang brown and scorched brown. the last highlight is one 3rd scorched, one 3rd mournfang brown and one 3rd white.
hope this helps 8)

For gore on models this small less is more. I typically just do some on the weapon and maybe a little little bit of spray on the model, but like you said it's easy to do too much

I can see what you mean about too much gore, I once saw a Dark Elf Dragon of some sort that was beautifully painted, I would say better than the old eavy' metal standard, but then the guy had pasted some sort of red goo all over the mouth and claws, it completely ruined an otherwise flawless miniature. Thanks very much, I didn't think it would be Scorched Brown, in my experience that has always been incredibly dark. Thanks for the info though, will definitely be using a similar scheme myself.

He looks good but try for a little closer in and an uncluttered background for the next or finished photo. Have you any of the rank Gundabad orcs?

This is some smooth painting, and the models looks very nice, but I wonder did GW pay royalties to Disney?
