Hi all, For Christmas I got a load of the new mirkwood elves and have finally decided to give them a lick of paint. So anyway I've painted a test model to make sure I'm happy with the colour scheme. I've now started painting the rest but am still a long way off (will post updates when done). So anyway, here's 2 pics of the test model (feedback, improvements etc would be appreciated) Cheers J16 |

I like everything but the cloak. I think the contrast of the dark brown shadow and the light cloth is too much without something to marry them together, or if you minimized the brown shadow so that it is not such a thick line that may help. look at images like this and work toward that, I am not perfect either, but I think that you could get a bit closer as you progress with the rest of the force, it is a test model anyway. |

Thanks for the tips I'll work on that on the next mini - will post results soon Also, if anyone else has a painted mirkwood rangers, then it would be a great help as I am stuck as to how to make them fit. J16 |

Nice, neat paint jobs you've got there. Nice work I painted up some Mirkwood Rangers a month or two ago - they are very nice minis. As you were asking for some tips on them I thought this might be of use. I did them in two main colour schemes. Green and brown as the two main colours. Here's an example of each: For the different areas I did: Brown Cloth: Base Rhinox Hide (leave some black in the recesses though) Highlight and paint the leafy lines Doombull Brown Highlight further with Skrag Brown Brown armour (central scale things): Base Rhinox Hide Highlight Gorthor Brown Highlight sparingly Ushabti Bone Green Boots and vambraces: Base Castellan Green Wash Thraka Green (Biel-Tan Green?) Highlight Loren Forest Highlight Elysian Green Dark Green Clothing (the first pic): Base Caliban Green Highlight Loren Forest (leafy lines) Wash Thraka Green Highlight Elysian Green On the second one you might notice that the panels around the kidneys are painted with a different combination just to break up the scheme a bit. It goes like this: Base Castellan Green Highlight with thin lines across the panel with a mix of Castellan Green and Administratum Grey (Fortress Grey in the old range) Finally highlight with pure Administratum Grey Hope this is helpful. Any questions just ask |
