Okay so this is just a sneak preview, but hopefully you can see where I'm going with it |

Oh heck that is looking impressive. Will you have his head just looking out or do you have a roar planned with teeth barred and a face full of anger ? |

Nice job, you've done a good job with the proportions. Something I do not like is the fur, IMO you get more realistic results when you pull it in instead of carving it in. It is hard to explain without pictures, but you should take a look at a fur cloak from GW, they pulled the fur. For Beorn I would pull it a bit longer because he has long fur. (Pull and fur and fur and pull ) |

Oh yeah, looking great. I'd be tempted to rush it, but I agree with the above post. Take a lot of time over the fur and you'll have something very impressive. Can't wait to see how it goes. |

Thanks people, it's still in the early stages but I'm enjoying sculpting him and will have him finished soon. Thanks for the advice Son of Fundin. When it came to the fur I was just etching in lines here and there, a bit disorganised. I'm having a look around now for tutorials and things trying to pick up techniques, and I'll probably patch over the areas which are a bit weak. Here's a pic of how the head's gone so far, I'm kind of on the fence as to whether I'm overly happy with it. What do you guys think? |

That's amazing! Truly excellent sculpting. Well done Personally I don't see why you should be "on the fence" about the face as I think it looks great. I'm no sculptor though... I look forward to seeing it completed |

Looking incredible. No need to be on the fence. Unless you accomplish your best work while on a fence. |

My only comment on the face would be to continue to deepen the mouth a hair so that it looks more 3D. And continue to develop the nose as its kinda mushroom shaped |

The expression on the eyes is of expert quality. I agree the nose needs bringing forward a touch and the bottom jawline is a little disjointed. I'm already hoping you make a cast, I want one. |

The loud noise you just heard is Dorth's jaw hitting the floor. Amazing sculpting. Tweak it if you want to or can, but even as it stands, that is stupendous work! |

Pretty nice so far! However, I think his face looks somewhat a bit hog-like. |

Are his legs supposed to be that short? |

Isilduhrr wrote: Are his legs supposed to be that short? They're not done, he's only at the joints. Its much easier to get the main body sculpted and then add the limbs so that you do not block yourself from being able to add details |

Right its just in DOS he actually had quite short legs thats why I wasn't sure. It's a beautiful piece, really looking forward to seeing the end result. |
