Just finished painting my first LOTR Finecast miniature, one of the new Laketown Guardsmen. I've got to say, apart from a flimsy, bent sword and a bit of trouble with the joins (both of which could have easily happened in metal), I was very impressed with the figure. There were no air bubbles and the detailing was incredible.

This guy will also be joining the crew of the Glaurung. More info about that, the figure, and a couple more pics on my blog: http://www.therenaissancetroll.blogspot ... urung.html

Thanks guys. I can't really claim credit for the colour scheme, it is basically the one shown by GW. It is essentially the colours from the movie super intensified. I tried to paint it more drag to start, but from any kind of distance you couldn't see any detail.

Great painting! :yay:
I have not bought any finecast miniatures yet. What is your experience of painting this type of mini compared to plastic?

I hope you meant drab. Laketown guards in drag would just be too much... :)
And looking at the photos in the DOS Chronicles book and the other film related books I snagged before Christmas, the uniforms are slightly more subdued but not dull - the cloth has a rich texture but like a lot of other things in Laketown, it is meant to have seen better days.
Very nicely painted all the same!

Errr...yes...drab, that is.

In terms of painting, once I put the spray primer on it, it might has well have been plastic for all the difference it seem to make (except for the sword which was more bendy). The detail is slightly sharper on these guys than the figures in the Goblin Town box set, but not by a huge margin.
