Hi,

Thought I should start my own WIP thread and share what i've been up to. Maybe it will help keep me motivated. It takes me for ever to paint anything and usually I never finish anything at all. My photo taking skills are pretty limited but i'm sure I'll improve with some practice.

Here are my only painted WOMT that I painted about 12 months ago. Unfortunately I broke one of the swords off so I will have to fix that.

Here is a Rohan house I'm working on. Have built it over the past few weeks. Haven't finished it yet and have kinda lost motivation to do so. I'm lazy :P :P

The rohan figure is my test piece for rohan and the only completed rohan figure I have. I dread painting them. He took a long time to paint.

Here is what I plan to attack next. I painted one of the wargs as a test. Sharku was purchased second hand and painted by someone else. I'm sure I will repaint him sometime but at the moment i'm happy enough with him.

Thats all for now.

I seem to have posted this in the wrong forum. Can a moderator put it in the correct place. Not sure how that happened.

Thanks. Its teddy bear fur. So far I have painted it with one layer of thinned down PVA. Not sure how to paint it up yet. Basically I just followed the guide in the Two Towers Journery book. (I think it was that book). I still need to trim the sides as well as put a strip along the top of the roof.

The painting on your miniatures is bright and tidy. The bases all look good and uniform, and you've got a good start on the Rohan house. You seem to be down on yourself, but from what I see, you have no reason to be. Keep it up, my friend!

That's some good painting you've done there and the Rohan house is looking particularly impressive. Keep up the good work 8)

Your Rohan warrior is inspiring me to paint mine; the colors complement each other greatly; would it be possible to upload some close-up photos of the model. It truly looks really good.

Thanks for the feedback. I wouldnt say I am down on myself, just saying how it is. I'm slow and often lazy when it comes to painting! I've painted less than 1% of my collection. I imagine there are others that are the same on here too.

Thanks. I'm chuffed that you like him and really pleased I'm inspiring something from someone. I can try to upload some close ups. Not sure if my camera is up to the task though. Will find out soon.

Brilliant work, particularly like the Rohan house, is it teddy bear hair?

The house looks great and you should finish it as looking at your Rohan spearman, your standard is fantastic. You have to finish that house.

Here are a couple of better pictures of the spearman.

Really happy how they turned out. Moreso because of the minimal effort put it. I think it took me about 3 hours to paint the entire lot from start to finish.

They were sprayed black and then I had to go over them with a brush and tidy up all the recesses. That took the longest. Then they got a dry brush with codex grey. Then a heavy wash of Hawk Turquoise. Then a heavy wash of either snot green or goblin green. Can't remember which now. That's it. For effort vs result I'm stoked. Wish everything could be so successful. My single Rohan warrior took longer than that haha.

A few of the warriors of the dead have broken weapons in there. I have 4 riders to paint up and hopefully some more on foot at some stage.

Since I have entered the January painting contest I'm currently painting my first cave troll. This will be the first piece completed for my Moria army. I have another 3 cave trolls to do after this one. Comments criticism and any feedback is appreciated. He isn't finished and I'm regretting not cleaning up the mold lines.

great looking stuff. The Rohan building is fantastic. I used grass clippings from my yard for the roof thatching. Your teddy bear hair is much better! Well done on everything.

A variety of very nicely painted minis.
The Rohan house looks great but is missing that most iconic feature of all things in Rohan: no horse imagery. Now it does NOT need to be a huge 'in-your-face' thing, in fact, more subtle touches can be far more effective such as small heads on the gables, whether flat or projecting is up to you. Very neatly done so far.
I agree - AotD are fun to paint as they are so relatively simple. And they FIGHT! :)
