Hey Fryer your painting is extremely good!! Love the Elladan paint job the cloak is fantastic. If I had to pick one thing that you could improve on it would be your flesh tones (and even they are pretty darned good) When you highlight a face make the lightest points the forehead , bridge of the nose, cheekbones and chin. This will help give the face more definition. You mentioned in the chat that you thought your skin tones were too light. I don't think they are, they look the right shades to me but if you implement the highlights in the aforementioned areas I think you'll be pleased with the result. give it a try. Your sculpting is amazing!! you have a gift there bud. The elven captains head, troll and ent are faaaaaaaaar beyond anything I could ever hope to achieve and the paint jobs do your work justice. I expect to see you in ukfreddybears sculpting and converting challenge some time soon and of course you are more than welcome to join the monthly painting challenge too. Welcome to the One Ring. |

Yeah, fantastics works! I like very much your Istari and Ent For Ent I would change green color, seem like green stuff For high elf bladesman it would have a more realistic pose if you had used a bowmen's body...but really compliments for head |

Nice work! I really like that ent, a job well done. My advice on the flesh tones would be to use a more intermediate mix around the eyes so that it doesn't look like eyeliner but it also doesn't blend in with the rest of the skin - keep on working on it, it is looking pretty good so far, just need to be a bit darker on some, lighter on others. DMS already described how to highlight skin tones but one thing i might add: its as much about what you leave as what you are putting on. I have been experimenting quite a bit lately and find that you don't have to join up all the areas (though it feels unnatural so sometimes I do it then realise it would have looked much better if I left a gap between 2 sections). I would strongly suggest to EVERYONE to try working on your skin tones on the Uruk Hai Captain (sword raised with shield at side) and on Uruk Hai beserkers. These are EXCELLENTLY detailed sculpts with very distinct layers of flesh which you won't find on many faces so they have really helped me improve my understanding and technique as it becomes very transparent what you have done wrong but also allows you a few attempts to fix it up, unlike faces. They are also good for getting armour drybrush & highlighting down. |

Man that was a lot better than I expected! The way you were talking in the chatbox I thought you were a complete novice but you have natural talent. The elf face is very good although it could just be me but the hairline looks a little off? Cant say much else than that. I love sculpting Ents. They can be given such character and it relatively simple to create a bark looking effect. If you want some criticism, possibly the fingers are a tad short and wide. The cave troll is great. A bit lean perhaps, but whose to say there aren't tall thin trolls around just as there are people? Also, on big monsters like that I tend to press in some light horizontal lines to create skin texture. On the whole very good. In five years you'll probably have some new member asking you for advice |
