Excellent work! I would recommend Steel Legion Drab on the base outer ring as I think it will make the browns on Radagast stand out more.

Thanks everyone.

Imladris, is that the new 'calthan brown'?, I recently run out of my calthan brown which was more muted, and I thought Mournfang brown was the same, but it doesn't look like it.

Superb job, I really like this miniature and you've really pulled the paint job off.

Very well done. I've been having some trouble with my own Radagast. What paints did you use?

Steel legion drab was closest to Graveyard earth I believe.

Jimmyriddle what paints did you use for the cloak? And what did you do on the base?

Post subject:  Re: Radagast

The cloak is Dryad Bark mixed with Dawnstone, the pattern is Rhinox hide

Layer of jacket beneath that was Mournfang brown with a hint of Khorne red and Dawnstone.

Vest was Mournfang brown with Dawnstone

Trousers were Dryad bark with Dawnstone, as was the hat (with less dawnstone though)

Bag was Castellan green, leaves were Loren Forest highlighted with warpstone glow.

With models like the Hobbit range, where I want more muted colours, I add dawnstone or mechanicus standard grey to colours (try to match tone), as it makes the colours less subtle. (I've got no art knowledge, so don't take this as the way to do it, just what I've found).

The base I added a little stirland mud, drybrushed mournfang brown then tallarn sand. The wood is dryad bark highlighted with dryad bark and dawnstone.

Hope that helps

Excellent work. Now if you paint 2 minis by this time in 2014, you will have doubled your output :)
Just messing... that is a very, very well painted Radagast. Well worth the wait.

Hi JR,

I bought pretty a quite a lot of the new Hobbit miniatures when they first came out up until about last Easter (I have only bought Azog since!), the idea was to be able to field a viable army of good and evil using Hobbit only miniatures. I am a reasonable way into this, but really need to get Azog, some more Hunter Orcs on Fell Wargs, and finish my Erebor Dwarves and Rivendell Knights.

Also to assemble and paint enough Goblin Town scenery to coverr a 48" x 48" black bottomless gaming board. Naturally a lot of this would need to be converted! I have assembled enough scenery now to do this, I still have a few large pieces to finish painting. So far I have been really pleased with the results. I will update my thread when I have finished the more ambitious conversions that have really been rewarding to make (which I shan't post until they are finished).
