After years away from the SBG world, i've finally returned and decided to start a Mordor force. What's not to love about trolls?

Here are a jumble of minis I hope to get cleaned, based, and primed tonight.

Here's my first test mini. While my skills are definitely questionable and I haven't decided on a skin or final cloth colour, I am quite happy with the red/dirty silver colour and will be taking it further with my next minis. The picture is quite bad but you can at least see the scheme, I will have better ones under daylight.

In the next 6 weeks (i'm a slow painter) I hope to paint:

18 Mordor Orcs
6 Hunter Orcs on wargs (to be used as warg riders)
Mouth of Sauron, mt and ft
Grishnakh
Shagrat
Mordor troll chieftain

Then I have an additional mordor troll that I may sell or paint, depending on how my next few games go. The only models I have previously painted are a small Uruk Hai force, which were a simple basecoat and wash. I was proud of the neatness and would like to keep a similar standard for all of my orcs.

Gonna get to building, cleaning and priming now and will hopefully have an update in a few hours of pre-painted orcs.

Wish me luck

Ha it may be evn slower than that, I have no idea how long it takes to paint usually

I would post picture now but he liquor got the better of men tonight and i dunt pain so maybe tomorrow or something

EDIT: Crikey... will say nothing about the above.

Here's a better picture of the scheme, still got no ideas for skin. I don't want green...might experiment with a disgusting blue colour as the rest of the colours are pretty outlandish so maybe they could be a race of orc we haven't seen yet.

Excuse my dirty nails.

Will hopefully get another mini painted up today, just because it's the first time i've had spare hours in daylight for a while. What do you think of the start of the scheme? Lacks skintones at the moment.

I started on some more Orcs and i'm quite disappointed in the results. May wait for the Morannon orcs I have on the way and see if they go any better :(

That's rather a somewhat decent orc :yay:
Much better than my first few at any rate

Those Orcs are very hard to get great results with, but you're doing well. Opacity seems decent. Could do with some highlights, but they can be added later as you get more confident. Just work on your brush control for the moment and the rest will follow. That's often the hardest part.

I'm finding the lack of detail on the orcs to be a frustrating issue, which is the reason I avoided painting them for so long. I have some Grimhammers that I think I painted quite well (will post pictures tomorrow when I'm home) as the detail is much better defined on the more recent models.

I have the same issue when painting. It's not about how to paint it's about where to paint, which is where poor detail becomes a challenge.

But i tell myself, there is no such thing as wrong, it's just all personal interpretation.

And go for it!

Feeling a bit discouraged with my Mordor, haven't painted any more orcs yet.

The models for my dwarf project are staring me in the face, thought i'd keep this alive with some pics of them.

My painted Grimhammers (I should get some better photos)

And a collection of what i've got planned.

Just wish I was ready to paint them :(

Thank you sir, that may push me over the edge to deal with my dwarves now and maybe leave my mordor as they're getting me down, ha!

They seem good but unfortunately I can't see them close enough.
