Hello all good folks of this fabulous site, it's Ben here getting started with a little hobby resurrection blog. So basically I'm a hobbyist who thought he was done with this stuff and sold all his models years ago, but now I'm back in the game with some models I picked up on Ebay and am looking forward to working the magic with the brush again. To make it more interesting I decided to start this thread so you folks can monitor my progress and maybe give me a little kick on the backside if it seems like my updates aren't frequent enough. Read my little story on the new members board: http://www.one-ring.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=26351 And here's a pic of the project ahead of me, all neatly organized on my extremely cheap paint station: Hopefully I'll find the time to get started on this thing this weekend, please do remember to give me nasty unapproving stares if I don't. Cheers |

Finally got around to applying the first layers of paint in years. The pictures are quite awful but should give you the general idea, I will do my best to improve the quality in the future. Although there is plenty of room for improvement, I'm quite happy about how these turned out. Seems like I haven't completely lost my touch. Highlights are maybe a tad too bright and I'm probably going to have to do something about the straps on the legs as it's all the same brown now. Now to add the finishing touches. Going to post some more pictures when I get more done. |

The paints are the right opacity, and you've a steady hand. Might just tone the highlights down with a glaze. You'll be back in the swing in no time. I had a break of a good few years, now a year back into it and I'm painting better than ever. Good luck! |

Pretty nice! The highlights could be slightly softer, true, but in general your minis make a good impression! I like the colours you used here, although the leather could be a bit darker. But that's just my personal taste Will you paint the faces too? |

Cheers fellas. I'll try to tone down the highlights in the future, doesn't look too natural as it is. I agree with you about the leather Rognarr, truth is I got lazy and tried to get away without mixing paints but it looks too bright to me as well. Of course I will paint the faces soon as I get around to it and there are also a few other details to take care of before these chaps are finished. |
