So i can't say these are my first mini's ever as i painted maybe 20 or so when i was 15 but they were very much block colour and dreadful with inch thick paint jobs. So now i revisit the hobby 9 years later and i am starting a Galadhrim army with maybe some allies eventually (depending on my liking of the eagles and/or how well my Thorin conversion goes). But these are my first pics of the first model, only done the cloak, hair and sword for now, am waiting for my base colours so i couldn't do the armour / skin unfortunately..... People use their phone's as excuses so i will too even though the camera isn't too bad on it. |

Oooh! I'm looking forward to seeing more of this WiP! Excellent clean painting ! Really, really nice smoothness on the highlights. This is promising to be a good start to a very good WiP... |

Very nice! I like it- it reminds me of a scheme that I used on part of my Galadhrim, so I look forward to seeing more! |

Comes out more like fair hair than bright blonde but i like it on my galadhrim, not so californian that way.... The armour on mine wont be that good, i am not too happy with my chainmail, the blue shade didn't pick out the detail as well as i had hoped, i may have to revert to using nuln oil. But it will be similar to the old tin blitz, just dont think i will be very good at highlighting it unfortunately.... Also when shading galadhrim armour is it advisable to hold the model upside-down? that way it will run up to the bottom edge of the armour plate above shading then underneath it where the sun wouldn't get, hope that makes sense?? |

Looking good so far with good highlights on the cloth. For the armour have a try with mixing 50/50 tin bitz (if thats what you use) and chainmail, it creates a subtle highlight that works quite well. |

My current armour base is Balthasar Gold, I was thinking of putting Fleshshade over it to create some depth, then re-highlight with Balthasar and then final highlight with Auric gold which is lighter, just don't want to put too many layers on and mess it up, then need more layers to sort it out which will make it too thick |

That will work fine as well, many people actually say (and do) highlight gold with silver but I was never keen on this which is why I went with 50/50 chainmail. A wash will always bring out detail and you could potentially just highlight with the base colour after this to good effect. |

From what I can see the armour looks really nice. I like the colour alot A tripod or something to lean your camera on would be a good idea. What kind of camera are you using? |

I'd recomend that you take pictures in good daylight (that should help the grainyness), also it might be best not to take the pic so close to the model... you can always pan back and crop the picture later (that should help the focus) also the basing is very cool too |
