Hi all. Will be posting in this thread to show work by both me and my much much younger brother D (10 years old). I've been painting since before he was even born, but lately he's got into it and I have again. Generally he does the base colours and I do the details unless otherwise specified. So after 10 years wait here's how we're doing on Thorin's Company.

I am speechless  Your painting is great. Your photography though does not do justice to the paint-job. If the pictures were taken closer we could appreciate the models more.

When I saw your models I though you had somehow stole the 'Eavy Metal ones!!

:yay: Wow they look great, especially Thorin. Congratulations to you and your son on the impressive team work. I once tried to paint with my brother... never again...

Those are tremendous - closer pics would be great and try eliminating the datestamp... 2007. The faces are outstanding and are instantly recognisable. Wondeful - you HAVE to enter some of the competitions!

nicely painted, maybe zoom in a bit on the models next time so we can see some more detail.

Thanks everyone, the camera I have isn't great and that was the closest I could get in-focus. I'll see if I can dig out a better one once they're finished.

Taking closer pics would affect the focus... a tighter crop might help though 8)

The minis look excellent! :yay:
Really really good :yay:
I agree with dorth, the faces look brilliant 8)

Files were much bigger than I thought. Still a few little details to finish on these.

Your paintjobs are not only impressive, you seem to have got your hands on these minis 5 years or more before their release! Only reasonable conclusion: Gene Parmesan is a Time Lord.

You are making me impatient to get my own set (not till later this month).

Excellent work so far!

Started on a dwarf mountain/door. Going to keep it generic but had Moria/Azog vs. Dwarf flashback in mind. Might make it so doors are interchangeable.

Tried to keep the colour scheme similar to his regular robes. Also made an attempt at the weird peroxide hairdo. I really need a better camera.

Awesomely painted! I really like the hair of Celeborn, very well done.

The mountain project also looks ace! Great (and large) project! :)
How are you going to model the rock structure? That part is essential I think and will make or break the whole piece. It's really worth spending some extra time on. I think there are some very good articles on the site, and I could give some tips if you need them. ;)

Cheers.

The only parts I tried to shape into rock was on the peak piece, and it's far from finished. I'd welcome any advice, as I don't want it looking too artificial, or cartoonish as some rocks can.

Personally want to avoid this style http://www.battlebarge.com/wp-content/g ... header.jpg

I'd be happy with this at the least http://www.terragenesis.co.uk/competiti ... /367-1.jpg

Hopefully manage to pull off something like this http://theshellcase.files.wordpress.com ... rofile.jpg
