Based on Feanor's brilliant 'Of mines and mithril' project from TLA, I went about making my own scenery piece to host battles of dwarves and goblins. I call it; Of War and Recovery (because it will be constantly fought over!). Here is where I am upto so far... I thought I'd share this with you now as I'm sure I will finish it soon with all this Hobbit-Hype! I'm sure it will suit a goblin-town style scenario |

You could add some rocky textures to hide the wooden components where they represent rocky walls and walkways - some pink or blue high desity foam glued on with PVA and sculpted/carved then coated in spackle with some grit. You couls also round out some edges to get less uniformity in the 'goblin' areas. Look at the section of The Fellowship of the Ring after the Watcher in the Water sealed Durin's Gate and the Fellowship were trekking though the deep parts of the mine. |

As I said, this is an outstanding piece of work top to bottom, it must''ve taken ages. The last camer angle looks really good, its as if they were real 'people'. I admire all the wooden work, and it is nice to see LotR scenery pieces being added to it, the stone and wood compliments each other well. I thjink you should put something else at the bottom, even if its just the MoM Well,. Good luck with finishing |

Looks very good! I can't wait to see it painted up! BTW, I notice a huge increase in Dwarf Mines on this site since Feanor joined (including my own project). |

+1 Looks great so far and once it's textured I'm sure it will be even more amazing. Do the levels separate at all (for storage and movement for example) or are they pretty much attached as is? |

It is all one big model, firmly put together so the levels should never come apart. Ive based and primed the board now, I'll have an update soon no doubt |

Just a little update, I've started priming plus I've added larger pieces of cork to some areas to give the rocky look, I will complete undercoting tomorrow and put a lot more layers on the places I've missed and not done very well. I will keep forcing myself to finish this project, bit by bit! |
