Hi all. Just wanted your opinions on a troll I started converting yesterday (with parts from Bizzare Warstar, cheers!). I didn't paint it, I got it off a bundle on ebay so I plan to repaint it.

Looks good, though the tooth picks had better be meant to be spears, or bolt thrower bolts, as they would be much too large for arrows. :) I actually really likew the spear in one hand and the rock in the other, he's got a nice longer range stabby thing, and then a close range pumeller thing. 8)

Yeah, I know the arrows in his back are too thick but I feared they might be too flimsy if I made them any thinner (which would be hard to do). And the one which is actually going through him is supposed to look like a throwing spear of some sort.

For the arrows you could try a section of wire. (paperclip maybe?) As long as you stick it into the troll firmly it shouldn't break.

It looks fine when pained I think, just make them look like some crude warg rider throwing spear. I'm not very sure about the stand the toll is in. From this view it looks like the trol is falling forward or something. But my definitive judge will come when painted :D

The conversion is great. I really like the new pose, especially because it makes a totally unfamiliar new stance, not the same old, same old. The only problem is the spear going through him. I just can't see a warrior of Rohan, Minas Tirith, or even Eomer being able to put a spear through a troll.

Yes, I know what you mean. I was thinking of painting it like a wooden stake like those used in the battle of Agincourt so it was actually the troll that clumsily threw itself on the stake.

the stake works well with the troll hunched over, looks like hes seriously wounded and struggling with it. nice one.

Hi, all. Been a while and I've been busy slowly painting up corsairs in all the time I have left over for models so so far I have only base-coated the troll. One thing I am working on, though, is some coastal raid terrain. I've always wanted to do a proper coastal raid but never really got over to making all the terrain. So here are some simple barricades with a soon-to-be very annoyed corsair.

And a few boats they should be able to fit nine models in them.

After these, I'll be looking to make some houses/settlements. I think tents may work well as they can be used thematically for any coastal raid of any forces just about. Ideas on how to make them which dosen't take too long?

The barriers look very good but perhaps some weathering could be done to them? With thhe boats, will they be more detailed?
Apart from that you're terrain is great and I'm looking forward to seeing some more.

I may detail the boats a bit more but I'll finish all the boats first. Perhaps a few oars would look good(?) Good idea about the weathering. I could start carving them up a little with a knife

Make the shape of the tents out of a piece of foam, then glue on matchsticks/cocktail sticks to look like tent poles, the lay pieces of tissue soaked in diluted PVA, then paint once dry.
I got that tip from a white dwarf on making harad tents 8)

Thanks. Do you know how thick the foam was?

Unfortunately not. maybe a couple cms taller than a man-sized model, so there's enough room for a door opening.

Hi, everyone, been a long time since my last update. I've decided to get back to the old wargs and to accompany them I converted an old spare Gothmog I had into a mounted shaman as I think it's silly to pay at GWS when it provides a good and interesting conversion oportunity (with some very clunky greenstuff work).

Looks good, except that your GS really should be mixed better....

Yes, I've been having some problems with it. I think I'm getting the constitution wrong. What % should they be mixed roughly?

Post subject:  Re: Spuds4evers general everything WIP

I normally mix mine about 50-50. But to me you need to just 'work' it more before you start sculpting. I.e. squishing it between your fingers/kneeding it, until it is one uniform colour. :)

Post subject:  Re: Spuds4evers general everything WIP

Ok. I thought that it was another problem so I didn't "knead" it much. Cheers for the tip :)

Finished the shaman and some wargs and finished converting the foot shaman with more clunky greenstuff work (especially the upper-legs :L).
